Anyone know what threads BSA uses on barrel tennon

My buddy has a bsa 30-06 bolt action form the early 70's just curious what the tennon threads might be? Just Knowing if they are or aren't metric could be enough. Thank you

Local smiths lathe won't cut metric.
Google was no help.
Thought if we could figure out if threads were metric without risking marring of the action or barrel on disassembly we'd be better off for it

I think they are 1X12, but will check tomorrow, Yeah, I'll be on the front porch for about 15 minutes as you say you wanted to borrow my thread gauges.

The diagram on page 508 of 'Bolt Action Rifles' by Frank de Haas (3rd Edition) shows the barrel tenon thread of the BSA/Herters U9 rifles as being 1.115 inch diameter x 12TPI. V thread. The thread form is not stated, but being a British rifle, it is probably Whitworth.

Thank you for the answers. And the reference. I just ordered the book for myself.

So just in case someone else is looking for an answer to this question.
I pulled the barrel tonight and it is 12tpi . My barrel thread diameter measured 1.117 so I'd say a 1.12x12tpi is a safe bet. I have never encountered whitworth threads but these seem to fit a 60 degree thread guage well. But on 55 or 60 degree I'm not positive.

That is just under
1.125-12 tpi
1.117 that is .083 under 1.2
A big difference
Not a safe bet.
Maybe that was a tipo
