Anyone have experience w/Rem 700 Sendero’s built by custom shop

I would also look into the GA Precision base rifle and select an up graded stock. I don't know what his current wait time is like. Can not go wrong with Dan Dowling either.

All the Remington Barrel making equipment from Ilion's custom shop were sent to Dakota Arms, but no one there was an experienced barrel maker so they now install much better barrels on the Custom Shop rifles.

IMO there are many better options for 2400.00, I like remingtons and Senderos, I’ve had many. If was gonna spend that kind of dough though I’d pay a bit more and get a well known Smith to do the build. Two of my favorites are Alex Wheeler and Jon Beanland. I think you’d be happier with the end product.

The custom shop uses a variety of barrels on there custom builds.

:rolleyes:Custom ????
I would buy A PTG 700 tuned action , add a better Trigger. Have a Krieger or ? Barrel install . send it to McMillan or ? For a stock .
Now you have a Custom :)

SEMI- custom;)
There was No Semi in the Post .
I would think ? My post would give someone a Custom Rifle ? If that person made good decisions on parts to use . I did add ? After my ideas ? Heaven only knows what anyone thinks are good Parts ? My hope was to guide a person ? I don’t believe the Custom shop is where I would spend my money.
That is my feeling.... Do not want upset the apple cart .

I know what you’re saying. A trued up Remington with all the good parts is still a semi custom since you’re using a mass production Remington receiver. A defiance or Stiller receiver would make it a “true custom.”

Go to Shooters corner in lake Hopatcon NJ . Owner is Bob and his wife .they have a lot of great used rifles , BENCHREST customs and some really fantastic deals . Bob was the prez of BENCHREST for a number of years and a fantastic gunsmith .
No , I don't work at his place .

Thanks, I’ll google it tomorrow & see if I can get a phone #. thanks for trying to help.

The more I look I see the value in GA. There’s no guessing. You know you are getting a quality action & barrel. I think the wait time can be up,to 6 months. I’m getting up into age. I have horses and pack gear and hope to spend summer in the mountains looking around and do some hunting in the fall.

I’ll google for contact info. I would love for Greg Tannel (Gre-Tan) to build it. I think it will out of my price range. From what I hear he wouldn’t build a sub standard package if you paid him double to do it.

If you’re looking for a “cheaper” custom quality production gun have you looked at the seekins Havak?

Hmmmm.......
Stiller action-1100-1200? Kelbly’s are nice, too. (Edit: I just noticed the add. Kelbly’s Atlas tactical-$999!!!)
Rock Creek barrel-325
Chambering and threading-250
Jewel trigger-220
HS Precision stock-3-400

That’s about $2400 for a full custom.;)
Oh...save the money and bed it yourself.
Call Bob Green for the barrel work! He’s good!
If you’re handy with tools, check out my stock building thread and make an heirloom .:)

Ggmac’s idea was good, too.:)

Josh I have done this using CBI prefit barrels for $300 + a barrel nut to spin onto a Stiller. It shot so well in Fclass that several friends replicated. These rifles won 90% of our local matches against high dollar customs. Criterion makes excellent barrels. So << $2000.

Hey, that helps because I forgot bottom metal. Anyway, I hope the OP gets the point that building a “true custom” isn’t out of reach. I’m more of a do it yourselfer. I have to hire a smith to do the chambering (specific to my wants) but that’s easy. You just send off the action, order the barrel and have it sent direct to him then wait a bit. When that’s done, it’s a simple matter to assemble the parts. A prefit only requires a few more tools. You also need an inch pound torque wrench and some bedding compound. Bedding a gun is only scary the first time. An adequate job is easy if a guy has a few brain cells working.
Just saying.:)

They list the BBl as having the "Sendero muzzle contour of .930" at the muzzle"??????

Really.... .930???

I have many Sendero Contour tubes....they measure .820 - .830.
