Anyone have experience w/Rem 700 Sendero’s built by custom shop

The 2 least expensive ways I have found to upgrade to a custom rifle are the GA Precision non-typical without many upgrades. I just found out about Remington’s Custon Shop & have been seeing 3 -4 plain custom sendero’s for $1950 - 2400. They are supposed to have trued actions, McMillian stock, & air gauged measured barrel. After holidays I’m going to call to find out it how much to replace barrel with a Bartlein or Krieger. 1st caliber I’m looking at is a 300 WM, after that undecided, but looking at 260 Remington or 6.5 PRC.

Any shared experience with the custom shop since they move to Sturgis will be appreciated. Also, i’m Not sure of the financial status of Remington right now.

Wishing all a Healthy, Happy, & Safe New Year! God Bless All!

Thanks, but I don’t know how the quality is. It’s ironic they have to blueprint their own actions. I’m hoping to get good feedback. This site is awesome, but it is New Years!

Hey sorry my post wasn’t informative at all. I’m just glad you shared this info. I had no clue Remington was doing this.

A custom shop remington is nothing more than what the 40x was- nothing custom about it. Youre paying them to slap a short chambered douglas barrel on there and blueprinting their own actions is laughable.

That bell and Carlson stock is interesting. I’ve never seen that model before. It looks like there version of the stock that comes on the seekins Havak.

They do use proprietary stocks sometimes. I had to trade a guy out of a couple custom shop guns before just for the stocks- one a mcmillan 40x rimfire br stock and a green web hs prec.

Whisper the specs in the add say its a Mc Millian stock. They also call the barrel a "premium " barrel. My dad used to call that getting a pig in a poke.

I missed that. If you go further down it says bell and Carlson. Weird. They do guarantee 1 MOA. Lol. I would expect a little more from a custom shop rifle.

Go to Shooters corner in lake Hopatcon NJ . Owner is Bob and his wife .they have a lot of great used rifles , BENCHREST customs and some really fantastic deals . Bob was the prez of BENCHREST for a number of years and a fantastic gunsmith .
No , I don't work at his place .

Wonder if Rem corrects the extraction problem which is so prominent, as if it were a planned design? For the money you noted buy a used custom, good deals in they classifieds often.

In the last years of the Remington Custom shop, I was very disappointed with their service and communication level. Back when Tim was the manager in Ilion, it was totally different. Then Remington bought Dakota Arms and a few yeards ago they moved the Remington Custom shop to Dakota Arms. I have found the people at the Remington Custom Shop Division of Dakota arms responsive and great to deal with. My custom build from them came with a chamber made from my reamer, a Krieger Barrel and a Jewel Trigger in addition to the trued S/S 40 X action and custom stock work. The test target they sent me was shot at 100 yards, with a temporary mounted Weaver 3x9 scope and measured .375" with what ever ammo they had. With Lapua Factory ammo I did better and with the loads I worked up (6mmBR Norma) it shoots under .25. Technically it can also be considered Factory Class.

+1 on Bob White and The Shooter's Corner. I drop in at Bob's on a regular basis, have bought lots of stuff from him and have attended two of his Bench Rest Seminars and the accompanying clinics. He also runs a winter league if you can make it to the central New Jersey area.

I think you are probably correct. After the holiday I am going to call & see what the cost of changing to a Bartlein barrel, M-16 extractor, flute barrel with a brake will, add to price

Also, there might be some awesome custom shops out there that is less expensive than GA Precision

For $2400 you could probably get one of the rifle builders here to build you a rifle with top of the line stuff. For a few dollars more it could be on one the custom actions like the Kelbly Atlas.
