Anyone got any suggestions for .300 Remington Ultra Mag loads.

I started with 82.0 grains of Retumbo and had hang fires with too light of a load.
Most heavies shot well from 91.0-92.0grains

WC 872, US 869, RL33, RL 25. The OP mentioned H870, Hodgdon had run out of H870 just as the 300RUM was coming out, I so wish I had a stash of this stuff hidden away some where.
I used to use H870 in the 70s when it was a surplus powder. It is probably the dirtiest powder I ever used.

It was very accurate in my 300 Jarett, I don't remember it being dirty, but if it was it's a small price to pay for what it achieved. But I never had any surplus, just H870 in a plastic bottle.

I know you want to know about 160 and 180 gr bullets. IMO the 300 RUM really shines with heavier high BC bullets. Minimum would be a 200 gr Accubond.

RL-33 and the Berger 230 match target will yield a velocity of 2950-3050 or so. This bullet will mash an elk flat and exit. Retains energy and has low wind drift.

My Berger 230gr load with H1000 gives me 2950 fps and .5 moa for 3 shots at 1K with a bipod/rear bag prone, totally happy with that.

When I had a 300 RUM, Retumbo and the 180-200 gr Nosler AB worked great. I know Retumbo is hard to find but lately I've seen it show up at certain places. If you can't find it most powders on the burn rate chart that are near Retumbo would be worth trying. JMO
