Anyone doing rebluing

I have a High Standard pistol that I would like to have re-blued anyone doing this? also could a pistol be cerro-koted or black Iced

I can't attest to the quality yet, although they are pretty well known for excellent work, but Turnbull does several types of bluing. I should be receiving a weatherby mark 5 with octagon barrel back from them Friday. They quoted me 14-16 weeks but was done in 8.

If you're interested in the "hands on" thing, and do your own prep/polish, you can usually find a reputable local guy who won't charge an arm and leg to hot tank your gun.

Trouble is, it costs as much time and labor for a pro to do a $300 High Standard as it does to do a $3000 Colt Python.

Also, you won't have the shipping costs and hassle if you can find a local dude. jd

In my opinion in Turnbull is one of the best. They are a great company to deal with as well as their blueing and case color processes are amazing. They have done a few pieces for me over the years and I have been extremely pleased. I have a Winchester 1886 waiting for one of their full restorations.

I do it, but since I live in a communist democrat state you are probably not local. Is this gun already disassembled and polished or just "as is"??? The reason I ask is that the taking apart and polishing and reassembly is where the work/money is. If it's ready you could stop by and I'd throw it in the tank for you, but if it needs a lot of polishing you might be surprised to learn that the gun might not be worth what the rest of it cost to do. Wherever you go, be sure and get some sort of estimate in costs and ask to see some of the guns they have polished. It sounds so "all ya gotta do" simple, but many a firearm has been ruined by an idiot that thought polishing was simple.

Edit: Better add that I am a republican!!!!

Just FYI if you dont know. The only way you can generally ship a handgun is by UPS and they make you ship over night so it is generally 50.00 one way or 100.00 for the round trip for a handgun. if someone knows of a better way mabie they will chime in and let you know.

I would suggest trying the GunSmith school at Murray State College in Tishomingo, OK. They are one of fours NRA accredited programs. I think you could get a good deal and the instructors are very exacting.
