I have not ever really been a pistol shooter, but I had a Luger (an older one) back in the 60's. I got it shortly after I purchased a surplus .45 through the NRA., I paid $14.50 for it. That gun wasn't comfortable to me and I couldn't hit anything.. About the same time I had an opportunity to buy a Luger. That gun was comfortable and I could hit whatever I wanted.I’ve been wanting one since I saw one in an old Herter’s catalog my Grandfather had when I was 13 or 14. I thought I should get one before I’m too old to shoot it. They are pretty guns and iconic. The one I got was described as “possibly unfired, like new in box”. I’ll be careful with it but I’m going to shoot it, like all my pistols. I’m glad I found one nobody has abused. I’ll do what you did. Pull it apart, give it a good cleaning, lubrication and then slowly work up some loads until it functions right. I just ordered some “truncated cone” bullets to try, too.
A few years later, I went to College and need the money so most of my guns were sold. I always wanted another Luger and until a few years ago, the price and the need didn't match up. So, it and two other guns had been on my bucket list, which have been completed.
