Any ShadeTree Co-Ax Owners? Need Your Help

I purchased a used ShadeTree Engineering co-axial top and due to packaging constraints with rest and other stuff, the ShadeTree top was partially disassembled. Being a bit of an apparent dunce with some mechanical things and not wanting to screw anything up, I can't figure out how it goes back together.

When unpacking, I grabbed the top of the co-ax rest and pulled up, which separated the top part of the ShadeTree rest from the rest of it. That left me looking at the guts of the thing, where there are two springs, and two sets of different looking pins, and a sliding plate that somehow all fit together. The top portion of the top that still has the bag attached it, somehow fits in there.

I have instructions, but it is not making sense to me.

Any help is most appreciated.

He must have figured it out. I haven't heard from him. I don't understand packaging restraints. I have shipped right at 750 units and no assembly is necessary.

It may have been shipped in a small flat rate box ;D

I am the OP, and have been a bit busy over the last few days, not getting to responding here.

I did get the Shadetree Engineering top back together and see how it works. It does need a cleaning and adjustment, which I will do when I have some time. Currently, the elevation bottoms out with the weight of my rifle. I did see that there are two pieces of what appears to be scotch tape on a bearing surface in the interior mechanism. One is partially folded. Both are at an angle and cover an interior joint. Not sure what this is or if it is even supposed to be there. ???

The top came affixed to a Caldwell BR Rock rest. When put in the box, the handle was just a bit too long to fit, hence its removal. Even if it did fit, I would not want the handle end that close to the edge of the box. Also, the box was packed with other items, including the original Caldwell top, bag riders, etc.

You know Phil, I charge shipping only to fix one of my rest tops. I am a grouch as most people will tell you, but I do take care of my customers.
This kind of post reminds me of several that I have seen. "Example", my Jewell trigger, my barrel, or my gunsmith has left me with a problem. Why don't you contact the manufacture and then decide if you like us or not.

Butch,

Thanks for your generous policies on taking care of your customers, which only confirms my expectations that I would like dealing with Shadetree Engineering if the need arose. I did not have to contact you as I spent more time understanding how the unit fits together, and did get it reassembled, only puzzled about what looks like tape inside. I don't see anything really wrong with the unit, that needs repair. And if I did need to send it to you, I would not be able to use my new toy right away!

Can you tell me what the tape is for? If this needs to be addressed by you, then I will of course send it off your way, and wait to put the unit to use.

Butch: I have never known you to be "politically correct" in the social sense.
Just to the point, no pun intended.

Maybe to your grandsons, but not here in the real world.

I guess I had better be politically correct.

Have a great day
