Any savage shooters had this happen?

jonbearman

I live in new york state, how unfortunate !
I was stripping my reciever down to glass bed the action. So my normal trick is to remove the trigger and fill the opening with clay. Sooooo I tap the pin out carefully and put my hand their to stop the sear sping that riflebasix ships with their triggers to make it more crisp and low and behold,no spring. Where it launched to,I will never know.I go to their site and they have no replacement parts avilable without calling them.I can hear it now,we cant sell just the spring.I got a bad feeling about it.I hope I am wrong.

Jon, [br]
This is why the good Lord gave us shop rags, so we could cover things with compressed springs during diassembly. ;) [br]
I think if you explain what happened, they will accommodate you.

Been there done that. Found mine tho. I feel your pain.

Big Ziplock bag over the whole action and my hands when I do it now.

I know it is not much help now but I have a friend that has a big clear rubber made tub that he cut holes in the side of. If he needs to disassemble any thing with compressed springs he just puts the tub over it sticks his hands in and if a spring goes flying it just bounces around the rubber maid tub.

I have found Clay Mitchell at Rifle Basix one of the easiest and most accommodating guys you could wish to deal with. I'm very happy with the Sav-2 trigger on my 6BR 12F Savage and I'm sure he will help you out.

I had a similar experience with one of those little C clips. I called them and they sent me 3 free of charge. They are a great Company to deal with.

Back when I used to watch CSI, I was always waiting for the episode of the "missing sear spring", that would have kept them real busy for an hour! ;D

thats what i use my meteorite cane for, searching for springs, clips and detent balls in the living room, lol. I has a 2" rare earth magnet that has like 200# of pull

Just got off the phone with Clay, what a great guy.He is sending me 3 springs for free and thanked me for my business. What a class act. I am thrilled. When it happens and you here it pinging off of everything under the sun,you freak out figuring it will take weeks to get more.I should have them by weeks end.

It is the sear spring,it replaces the savage spring with a higher tension spring to make the trigger feel crisp.

i don't believe in voodoo or UFOs, but i do believe in my buddy James. I have launched two springs from two different rifles into the stratosphere of my garage, and as long as James is there, they either land on the table next to us or right at our feet.

if you are willing to pick up plane fare and a meal, i will send him to you. no word a lie...

I also have this t-shirt, but won`t wear it in public...

The longest it`s taken to find one of those refugees is 24 hours.

Do I feel lucky?

Darn straight I do! :-X
