Any major difference in H4198 and IMR 4198 in accuracy in 30BR

Absolutely, but I'm getting a little over 3100 with my 108's and it does pretty well. I only use the BR at 100 yards. I need more HP at 2 & 300 so I use something totally different.

The H, & IMR 4198 powders are different, although both made in Australia, and similar...but different.
What I found:
30 BR 23" barrel
Berger 115 gr FB HP
H 4198 33.3 gr 104% fill 2907 fps
IMR 4198 31.8gr 104,% fill 2855 fps
AA LT-30 33.5 gr 104% fill 2923 fps

It appears LT-30 to be a good substitute for H4198 & why many use it. But IMR 4198 can be used, with an experiment in your rifle to see if accuracy & velocity meet your needs...but they all take up the same capacity 104% at max pressure. I'd get a drop tube and try it, just for fun as a few use it with success.

LT-30 in 30BR

With H4198 out of the equation for the foreseeable future, I'm going to experiment with some LT-30. 205m, lapua brass, 118 gr bib. 17.5 Krieger. Any suggestions out there?

I shoot my 30BR with my own 112 grn bullet at around 3050 fps with 35.0 grns of H4198.

35.5 grns of LT30 matches that at just about the same level of accuracy.

My over all trim to length is 1.545, but it is due to a longer neck. The shoulder to bolt face is the same as a regular 30BR.

I've settled on 34.6 of the lt30 and is running 3010-3020 with a 112 barts xout 5 off a hard jam. Was just able to find some H4198 and gonna give it a go to see how it does vs the lt30.

I realize charge is slightly different interested in accuracy difference IMR 4198 is readily available decent price can't find H4198 ???

I have had success using a charge recommended by randy with 118 gr bullets it’s not as fast but it’s accurate. Shooting 1,2and three hundred shoots pretty good excellent at 100yds.
