Any info on running a 6mmAR or a 6ppc with a DBM

Ok, so I would like to start a new project that has interested me for a long time. Id like to do a 6mmAR repeater on a Remington model 7 action using AICS magazines. I plan on using a PTG bolt with mini M16 extractor. So far I know that the 6mmAR cases can be held in the magazine without modifying the feed lips. But that is where my "known's" end. I was hoping someone here has some experience running a 6mmAR or 6PPC in an AICS magazine? Does anyone know the port length (magazine and top port) on the Model 7 action? Also, is the thread diameter, and pitch the same between a model 7 and model 700 SA? BTW this is just for a fun rifle and if things just seem too crazy to do with the 6mmAR then I will just do a 6x45. Thanks for any help!

Here's a question that would be related to my OP. Is there any reason that short, fat cartridges, like a 6BR, 6PPC, or 6mmAR, would cycle better in a remington model 7 compared to a 700 short action?

The main problem is that the feed lips need to be a little longer to make sure the bullet has entered the chamber before it releases from the mag. An AI mag is the same for both actions as far as I know.

What about ejection? I know another issue with running the short cartridges in a Remington action is that the cases tend to slip off the extractor before they clear the ejection port. I plan on using a mini M16 extractor should work better, but Im still not sure if the cases will stay on the extractor all the way until they are ejected, if that makes sense. As far as the magazine goes, PTG now has the DBM system that uses AR mags which would work with the short 6mmAR cases, but I was hoping to be able to use the longer AICS magazines so that I could load to a longer COAL.

I run a Sako ext. in mine. You should be fine with the Mini-m16 as they are both installed at the same angle on the bolt. Both will pull the case up and over the lug race way which is what you want and need. Sounds like you are on the right track. Hope this explanation makes sense.

Just a thought. The longer your loads are with regards to the AI mags the better off you will be. In this case longer is definitely better. Keep me posted as this will be very interesting.

Thanks, Paul
