I have 8lbs of 2000MR and would like to use it in my 223 and 223AI, with 75Amax or 80 JLK,s

I Am getting big velocitys, but so so accuracy.

No Pressure signs up to 29.5grs(3250fps) Sd of 9 with 75Amax but fairly sloppy accuracy.

Have a very accurate Hunting weight rifle in each with 8.5 twist 26" barrells. Fireforming Fed GMM in 69g sierras as good as .5 inch at 300Yds.

Does anyone have ANY experience with this powder in heavy for caliber bullets?

thanks,

Ben

I'm shooting Breger 90gr VLDs at 2950FPS with a 1:7 twist barrel with very good accuracy using 2000MR. I'm running 26gr of powder in a Lapua case and CCI450 primers. The last two F-Class matches at 500 yards I shot a 145 and a 144/6X out of 150 so 2000MR seems to work.

I've found that 2000MR can deliver some crazy fast velocities with no pressure sign in both my .308 and .223.

With 77 gr Nosler C/C shot through a Benchmark 1:7, 3 groove, 26" barrel I am achieving speeds just under 3,000 fps. The barrel was chambered so a 77 gr seated with the pressure ring right at the shoulder/neck junction is just touching the lands. This allows me to get a lot more powder in the case without flattening/cratering of primers or increasing bolt lift effort.

My most accurate load traveled at 2850 using this powder and yielded sub .200" groups at 100 yards. Several were sub .100".

I have not tried it in my 223 ai but 3250 fps sounds kind of high. Was that a typo? With varget and 75 amax I am at about 3000 fps, with good accuracy, I haven't tried to push it any faster as I am new to the Ackley version.

I'm using a Savage action and a Shilen Select Match Pre-fit 1:7 twist barrel. If you are starting from scratch I'd consider the (what I call the 1000 yard reamer) PT&G .223 reamer. It's essentaly a Remington .223 match reamer with a 0.190 freebore. That should put the pressure ring of the Beger 90gr VLD about 0.020 up from the neck/shoulder junction. That combo works really good.

Same thing I'm building, Savage target, Shilen 1/7 26 inch, I know Shilen uses most all PTG reamers along with his bolt for their action, I have one of them also, I ordered this with a .252 neck , normally their barrels always seem to have just the right freebore, Thanks for reply.
