Any advantage of 6.5 Lapua over Creedmoor?

I try think it is a 300 Win Mag. It’s what the other guy in my detail was using - the 6.5 really gave him a shock.

Wow! Over 3100fps with 140gr bullet is faster than most 6.5 PRC loads.

I dont know that RL17 is Temp stable enough for the Arizona sun in summer time.
I ran some with 123gr Scenars with good accuracy and speed but only in the winter time.
That's a mighty hot load to push in 100 plus temps IMO...works well for you across the pond however.

I'm going to re barrel my Creedmoor to Lapua. Have an 8 twist Bartlein arriving tomorrow and will get started soon. Have H4350 and 140 Hybrids in stock, but was concerned if 140 was to heavy. I shoot 600 just for fun and wanted something different

6.5x47 Lapua fits Remington magazines much better than a 6.5 Creed, especially when you have your gunsmith install a Wyatt's mag box that gives you .120 more OAL.

IMO, not being able to chase the lands is planned failure if you use a repeater.

On the other hand, this makes the case for long range hunters to use only single shots.

Rem short vs long actions is about 6 oz of weight.

I use a .123 FB reamer for 123-130 class bullets and .167 for 140's. AA4350 is outstanding for the 140's!!

I own a couple Creedmoors, both Tikkas and a Beanland built 6.5x47. They are so close in performance that I don’t think there is a wrong choice. Personally if I was limited to one it would be the 6.5x47, mostly because I love the case and the fact that not everyone has one. I do get tired of hearing about anything Creedmoor but you have to give them credit for an amazing marketing job. Both offer great brass, lots of good bullets in a variety of weights, you have the right powders for either one, both are accurate, both feed well etc. The Creed will win a Velocity race given all thing are equal but not by much.

This is true! Our local Cabela's has a ton of bullets on the shelf and every damn one is for .270! I dont think they even have BB's but they have .270 bullets.... lol

Thank you everyone for the advice. I've decided on going with the 6.5x47 Lapua. I think it will fit my needs perfect. Now I have to decide on keeping this barrel until it's shot out or going ahead and getting a 6.5x47 barrel now and selling the 260 barrel. I think I'm leaning towards doing it now since there's only about 700 rounds on this barrel. It would be a while until its shot out. I'll probably be selling the dies also.

Great choice. Now you don't have to have a Subaru with a Coexist sticker and a man bun. But you will have a damm nice rifle !!
