Any .357 handgun/rifle accuracy nuts on this forum?

I have seen my best groups with 165-180 grain bullets, past 75 yards out to 250.
I never had anything but ok accuracy with the lighter projectiles you describe. The 158’s were shoved down my throat as a young fellow, and well into my 30’s. Shot some 170 grain bullets out of a Blackhawk and it turned into a shooter near and far.
Have a highly massaged GP100 6” that has seen service from my buddy and I, I would guess around 20-30 K of heavy loads, still tight as a tick and was sent into Ruger for a once over when it was 30 years old. Sent back with a clean bill of health.
My FA runs a custom 220 mold from Veral Smith.
FA’s are $$$$ well spent, leave 98% of other wheel guns in the dust if distance is your game.

Tesoro, I wish you happy trails on your new adventures. I would however suggest you come up with some sort of portable shooting bench, it wouldn't take up much room and it would certainly have more utility than the hood of your vehicle... Jim

Like this?!! Legs screw off n mount underneath. Weighs 70 lbs. will mount press on it with bolts n wing nuts(under a pine tree in the mountains!). Stash it in my 5’er pass through.IMG_3164.jpeg

Noted!

I love my lever guns. I can’t scope them though. Maybe a peep sight, but a scope on a lever gun is like a prom queen missing her front teeth to me. lol.
thats exactly how i feel. as my eyes have gotten worse over the years i have not been able to see the irons but i recently got some of the glow sights which has given me a new lease on shooting the levers.

Last time I loaded 357 was 45 years ago when I was a teen and had bought a 4in Pythom in the box at a garage sale! You guys need to quit talking about 2400. There is not a can of for sale in the US!
Tesoro—- Good Luck and Happy Trails on your new adventure—- sounds like a great time to me. I have a couple pounds of 2400 but its not worth using up my components on it if i cant get more of it. same as you. Ive got some of the VV powders though and they show promise for handgun. keep us posted

Currently my only 357 is a ‘79 Marlin 1894

Run 4/Trailboss or Titegroup with a cast 140 gr

Great fun bumping over steel targets at 40-50 yards

Kids luv it !

Well thanks to lots of good inputs I have figured things out and made a plan!

There is no way to roll one universal load that will shoot out of a 6in 16T and also out of a 20in 38t, I was hoping to accomplish this but not possible for my intended application.

It appears that AA9 will work well and is readily available and not overpriced due to demand. 158gr jacketed for the revolver and 125gr jacketed for the carbine. If the cheaper jacketed dont shoot well enough in my revolver will switch to cast. End of story.

Ya know . . . . We'll be expecting a range report! Gotta close the loop, right? :D

My Rossi Model 92 shoots 125 grain bullets the best. Hornady HAP 125 gr. are great target shooting bullets out to 100 yards. Both Titegroup and Winchester WST powders will produce very good groups. The best investment I made was a tang mounted peep sight. Shrank my groups in half.

Odd man out here with my very early built Win 1885 Lo-Wall. It was originally made for the .25 RF so I had The barrel relined to .38 SPL CF. The smith installed a barrel with a 1-10 twist. God only knows why that fast twist. BUT, here's my dilemma. I have tons of brass both new and fired, but I don't have a clue as to what to use for a bullet or powder and powder charge.
I've been told that the pressure load needs to be under 17,000 lbs because of the metallurgy of the late 1800s. I need a starting point~! The stocks have been refinished, but I don't want the rifle to be just a wall hanger.
Any input will be sincerely appreciated

Sounds like mild loads would work for it. Pick a bullet and powder and maybe some of the Quickload geniuses can help you. I found this info . Seems max pressure for the round is 17,500 PSI.
