Antelope season in Montana

TheBlueEyedBear

'The Nut Behind The Trigger'
Well, Antelope season has finally arrived; and, just that quickly it’s over (for me).
Thought I would send along a couple pictures of the unsuspecting critter who thought he was safe at a mere 511 yards. But no, no; the boomer reached out and touched him. He just could not get away from that NOSLER 125gr Ballistic Tip bullet traveling at 3905fps (muzzle Velocity). He’ll be on the wall a few months down the road. Not the biggest ‘goat’ on the prairie, but enough to make for a successful hunt.
Oh yeah,,, the gun:
30-338 Lapua Magnum
BAT model ‘M’ Action RB/RP diamond fluted
BAT polished SS trigger guard
BAT polished SS scope rings
BAT 20moa base
Nightforce NSX 8-32x56 scope with NP-2DD reticle
with KENTON Industries elevation knob
Bartlein 30” SS barrel, 1-16 twist rate
RCR chamber with zero free-bore and .342nk
Vais muzzle brake
Jewell BR trigger (tp set at 2ozs)
RCR model 10 stock out of exhibition grade Turkish Walnut
And, Pachmayer recoil pad, and a Graco mercury recoil reducer.

Thanks to Richard Franklin of Richard’s Custom Rifles for building one heck of a gun. Not only is it ‘purdy’,,, it shoots!!

Very nice Barry!
What is your trajectory at 500 yds with that laser?

I spent an entire evening last week reading Richard's life story which was very entertaining.

I am at -23 inches at 500 yards with a 200 yard zero. I have attached the projected data from Quickload, running it through QuickTarget. My actual velocity through my PVM-21 for a 5 shot average was 3905. That was the data I provided KENTON Industries to formulate my elevation knob with. They really do a great job.
When I had my first rifle built by Richard I too read his life story. We had many similarities: Being the same age, moving west at an early age and some other facts. Really made it an interesting read for me. However, I almost puked when I read the part about him and his horse JACK. I could not stop laughing!! :) I go to his site every now and then and re-read that section whenI need a good laugh.
