ANSCHUTZ vs CZ

I always get a good laugh at these "which are better " posts. Inevitably, no matter what the topic is, everyone seems to overlook the biggest variable of all. THE SHOOTER! You could hand me your gun and ammo and I may not be able to shoot it as well as you, and you may not be able to shoot my gun and ammo as well as me.
Some say that a 22 mag isn't accurate. My Anschutz 1516 22 mag. gave me a half inch group at 100 yards. My CZ 455 22 LR can't do that at seventy five feet Using a front rest for both. For me, I love the Anschutz. Also, I never saw the logic of buying a cheaper product and then spending lots of money to try and get it to be like the more expensive one. But whatever floats your boat.
My 2¢, The Ruger 10/22 tops the list of cheaper products and then spend a thousand dollars to make it shoot. At least that's what I spent converting one to .17HM2, DOH!:rolleyes:o_O:confused::p:D

But think of that fun you have had along the way.. it was worth that wasn't it?

I guess that I can see that sentiment with some products but not guns. Tinkering with and tuning guns is a hobby for me. I couldn’t think of anything more boring than buying a top of the line firearm that I know is going to perform or it goes back to the factory.

If you're shooting NRA smallbore prone and want to shoot a perfect score of 400-40X at 50 yards, you'll need stuff that tests no worse than 1/4th inch then call all shots inside 1/4th inch centered on the target's .390" X ring. All with repeatable rifle hold and positions plus good corrections for wind.

Here's a smallbore match rifle that may equal Anschutz......

I mean i'll say I seen the video long before it was posted here. I think it is the stupidest video I have ever seen. Only someone who knows nothing about shooting or rifles could even watch this stupid BS. lets set both them rifles up in the proper bench rest set up with proper scopes and find what ammo they shoot best and I would almost guarantee the Anschutz is the winner..Look the CZ is a decent rifle for the money and occasionally one will shoot great. Heck a have a 169.00 Marlin 25N that with Fed Ultra match on a clean barrel would shoot 1/4" 5 shot groups at 50 yards. So there are a lot of accurate 22lr out there but trust me the guy in the video would not know one if he had one. The Anschutz is a better rifle than the CZ Hands down and in most cases will out shoot any CZ as far as sheer bench rest accuracy goes. now let us shoot like this guy is shooting then any 22 is going to do just as well as the next. Although if you have the 5098 trigger the odds go up. I'd like to add just got a 1416 HB classic with the 5098 trigger bug holes at 50 yards. shooting off hand at 25 yards I had 10 in a ragged hole due to the trigger. I like to shoot my kimber 82 off hand at 50 its fun..

Ok, I am a novice (totally) in the 22Lr world. The wife and I own 2 Savage Mk II's but plan on purchasing something that would be more competitive. I have done some looking but am having problems finding any CZ's or Anschutz. Where should I be looking, new or used. I am not a fan of Gunbroker!

Champion's Choice for Annies. http://www.champchoice.com/store/main.aspx

Whittakers for CZs. https://shop.whittakerguns.com/

Online: https://www.gunsinternational.com/

I would caution using Armslist.com

I have found a CZ 452 Tribal that is NIB ??? but has been fired about 10 times. I have not seen gun but believe it is in excellent condition. I have not even found a pic of rifle so my question is how would this gun preform in bench rest competition and anyone willing to guess what the worth is? Thanks Daniel

If you are talking about how it would perform in true Benchrest competition then save your money. Benchrest is a very specialized discipline with very specialized equipment. You will need to find a Benchrest competition in your area go to some matches and see what is being used, most competitors are more than glad to help a new entry because there are so few people who compete in it.
You might want to go to Benchrestcentral.com and do some reading there, they also have a classifieds section so you can get an idea of what a competitive rifle and scope will cost you, then of course there are also the front and rear rests you will need to be competitive.
Just some rough numbers of what it will cost to be competitive would be $1500 - $2500 for a rifle, $500 - $700 scope, $400 - $800 for a set of rests, and the ammo will run $10 - $20 per box of 50.

Are you sure you meant Benchrest competition or are you just talking more like shooting off a bench at targets for your own fun?

Drover, I was talking about actual competition in the BR arena. Thanks Daniel

Ok, Guys. I need some additional info. Have found an Anschutz-Savage Model 64 Match that is for sale. I have several questions about the gun. 1. Are parts available for it? 2. Would the gun be a Good, Decent, or Poor entry level BR gun? 3. Stock has been cutoff and original pieces put back on it so would there be any chance of finding a another original stock? 4. Anyone willing to give me an estimated value of what it is worth? I don't mean what the same gun is listed for on the online gun auctions and such. Thanks Daniel

If your serious about competing I would get the 2013 BR rifle. They also have a 54 BR action/rifle that would likely work. They used to offer a 64 BR setup, but have discontinued it. One big problem with Anschutz stuff is the cost of parts. It sometimes seems a replacement stock is damn near the cost of a complete rifle. I would recommend you buy a full rifle and don't mess with it. Any additions or add-ons will be hard to find and expensive. I spent $80 on just and extended magazine release lever! Won't even mention how much a magazine cost...

The gentlemen at Anschutz North America are very good guys, I would reach out to them.

Daddy brought his 1710HB 150 year Anniversary model over yesterday and at 100 yards my Lilja barreled CZ455 cant keep up,,he has about 1200$$ more in the Anschutz than I do the 455 though so I would expect it to shoot a little better and it did,,but it was very little,,

there is no arguing that 1710 is a lot nicer rifle though,,
