ANSCHUTZ vs CZ

Lets not get carried away here fellas. The 64 MPR is a nice rifle (I just bought one), but it is not on par with a 54, 2013 or Fortner rifle. I may have had expectations that were too high, but it is nothing like a custom centerfire action or a very highend 22. It is noticeably nicer that a CZ455, which is noticably nicer than a Savage Mark 2. I am happy with mine, especially for the price, but it is the entry level Anschutz for sure. You can get what you pay for.

You can get aftermarket barrels for CZ that would definitely improve the performance, combine that with a stock and trigger and you have a nice little rifle. But how much have invested? If you want to supe up your CZ send it to djdilliodon, he does some good stuff.

The difference in accuracy between a 64 MPR and a 54 match is very small, for the casual shooter not worth the difference in my opinion, just depends on how many 100's of dollars your willing to pay for a 1/10" accuracy improvement

Here was a group from that Joe Chacon 10/22 Douglas barrel ABRA stock gun.

What are you covering with that pen, a flyer?

That white target was actually the back of a piece of coraplast(House for Sale sign) and bullets blew out plastic making group bigger than what it was. That is why edges are jagged. Now I am posting these so someone don't say one lucky group dont mean much.

just wanted to chime in, I have a pair of 64 ms that will shoot .1's with cheap ammo. I do weigh them and headspace but they shoot that at 50 yards. I love both mine, triggers are second to none. one is a single shot, the other is a repeater and both shoot the same, just different ammo. its hard to imagine a cz shooting like that but I have never shot one. y'all have a great nite :)

Can't believe they compared these two rifles. Kind of like comparing a heavy bench gun with a pencil-barreled Savage Axis - and the guy rapid fire a shooting test with mediocre rest and no rear bag. Reminds me of reading about accuracy tests done by gun magazine field editors when the wind is howling 20 m.p.h. and writing negative comments about the "accuracy" of the test gun. Still - a very detailed comparison of two incomparable guns.

I wasn't referring to the accuracy of the 54 vs 64. More the design, fit, feel, and finish of the the 54 / 2013 /Fortner actions. The 64 can be a shooter for sure, but the higher end actions are pretty sweet.

I don't doubt your experience but there are plenty of CZs more accurate than plenty of MPRs.

Many posters disputed this statement. Sorry I had lost track of this thread.

In general terms, here is why there are plenty of CZs more accurate than plenty of MPRs. I have 2 CZs and about 10 Anschutz rifles so my loyalty is evident.

To compare Anschutz to CZ in the manner most attempt, one must presume all Anschutzs (of the model being compared) shoot the same. Conversely, one must also presume all CZs (of the model being compared) shoot the same. We know this is not true.

Each rifle model line generates a bell curve regarding accuracy dispersion. Simply put, some are more accurate than others within the same model line. These bell curves overlap in a way that, for example, more accurate CZs will shoot better than less accurate Anschutzs. Let's face it, some Anschutzs are returned or get re-barreled for accuracy problems, so all is not roses with the brand, as with any brand.

If someone thinks the bell curves do not overlap, they are mistaken. Personally, My CZ 452 Lux will out-shoot my 1416 Anschutz. I have a friend that has two CZs that will give the Match 54 rifles a run for their money. I just love it when I shoot well with a 9 pound Anschutz, and he hands me, with a smile, a 6 pound CZ that does as well or better. Ironically, if I remember correctly, one of his exceptionally accurate 452 CZs is a full stock model, about 5 pounds.

We didn't measure differences, so (for several reasons) I generalize and am making a point. No one has the time or resources to quantify any of this (the area under and shape of the bell-curves). I've not had an MPR, simply because in that weight class I want a 54. I had a 64MS, similar to an MPR, that was nothing to write home about. My 452 LUX was more accurate. I have another 64MS that is fine.

IMO, this is because no-one has figured out a way to make barrels perform the same. A barrel, the most important variable, is a very dynamic variable, unlike a trigger, a bolt, or an action...Tom

I always get a good laugh at these "which are better " posts. Inevitably, no matter what the topic is, everyone seems to overlook the biggest variable of all. THE SHOOTER! You could hand me your gun and ammo and I may not be able to shoot it as well as you, and you may not be able to shoot my gun and ammo as well as me.
Some say that a 22 mag isn't accurate. My Anschutz 1516 22 mag. gave me a half inch group at 100 yards. My CZ 455 22 LR can't do that at seventy five feet Using a front rest for both. For me, I love the Anschutz. Also, I never saw the logic of buying a cheaper product and then spending lots of money to try and get it to be like the more expensive one. But whatever floats your boat.
