I received the Panda action for my youngest grandson Remy's new 30BR/30PPC build this week and just finished polishing it.
I put a scratch in the tang while I was buffing it so will have to go back over it. I did a final sand with 1200 but may go back over it with 1500 then 2000 grit to really get it to shine

They make up to a 5,000 grit sanding paper. I have some but have never used it on anything.

Thanks Dusty, this one was a little more difficult than the Borden action with all the flats.
Well see if it looks any better after the 2000 grit.

I had to touch up a spot on the tang that I scratched while buffing it so i went ahead and took it the rest of the way to a truly quality finish.
I sanded with 1500, 2000 and then 2500 grit.
It turned out like looking into a mirror.
Hopefully Remy will ge happy with his first benchrest rifle.

No, it goes wayyyyy finer than that.

3M micro-abrasive films go down to 1/2 micron, I believe...or at least, that’s the finest I have personally used. It doesn’t translate directly, but that’s something like 50-60,000 grit.

Thanks, I never knew that. I remember on the other end seeing 16 grit which looked like small rocks glued on a piece of paper.
