I was all excited to try out some of my 75 grain ballistic tip loads in my new Super Varmint. Then I quickly remembered that they are too long for the factory magazine. I was not about to spend hundreds of dollars to solve this problem. Especially since the two extra mags I have only cost me $5/ea.
My methods of cutting apart the magazines went between a small hack saw, an oscillating tool and a red hot X-Acto knife.

I had a piece of aluminum flat stock sitting around so I used that for the new backstop in the magazine. A little bit of hobby epoxy held it in quite well.
