another scope question for the pros..

I am just getting into the f class shooting at 250 yards and am unsure about scopes...I have read so much I am now more corn fused than ever..I see where some use a 10x...How is this possible with small target bulls eyes..I see where some use the same out to 1000 yards.This sounds impossible to me...Or maybe it depends on the scope clarity...Help me out on this,please...I have my cheap tasco all the way up to 24 x...John

Maybe take a break from the corn liquor and you'll be less corn fused. Sight picture is one of the most fundamentally important aspects of shooting. Whether with iron or telescopic sights. Go to an F-class match, and watch what they do. Observe their gear and their shooting techniques. If a Palma match is being held alongside, then you might notice they are using IRON SIGHTS (so to speak). Out to 1,000y. Once you understand sight picture, you'll realize that magnification isn't as important as you think.

Lastly, throw the Tasco away, or crank it down to 10x. It's probably so dim at higher mag that it's virtually useless.

Optical quality and mechanical reliability are far more important than magnification. A good 10x with a proper reticle will do fine.

If you are like me and cant see as well as I used to.I would go with more magnification anyways to be able to see your shots somewhat at greater distance.I like the sightron 8-32x56 or the 10-50x56 with a dot reticle.
