Taken at another ranch I have not been on for the last 6 months due to hitting the ranchers calling us during calving a lot closer to WY. This was in NE that allows NV & thermal.
Using a thermal ps32 & a pal w/his ls64 & shockwave caller.
I was using his Bushmaster AR15 in .223 w/his d740 NV scope & suppressed...weighs a ton over my Savage 6x45 bolt gun.
Im buying the same scope so wanted to actually use his to get the feeling for them.
Big male popped up from a low spot at about 147 yards & at the same time I see another coming in by the horses at 200 yds or so right towards the male. Pal saying shoot shoot shoot its at 12 oclock right in front of you....nothing like getting almost over excited on my part! I finally I see the male since I was concentrating on the other (a female).
I swing to the male & its standing broadside, pwwttthap suppressed & he drops DRT, the other runs off & I bark at it. It stops way out and away from the horses, I put the crosshair on top of its back...pwwattwp it spins & I fail to see it drop.
We find the male right off the bat at 147 long steps.
It took us 5 min to find the female, it was another 300 steps from the fenceline that was 200 yards from our sitting spot. I figured at least a 350 yard shot w/his D740 NV scope. We found it in the tall grass using our thermals and his mtn cur coyote dog.
What a great set & all within 6 seconds of each other.
Both hit right behind the front shoulder where I held, even the mangy female & No exits, 55g hornady superf performance load he uses.
We move 1/2 mile on the same ranch and my pals turn on his gun and he drops another coming in fast at 125 yards.
