Another insect lost it's life today

I had shot this rifle at last months local fun match, it had the factory Beaver tail stock with no provision for a bipod so I was using the heavy bench rest and the round bottom didn't work out well. I ordered a pro varmint and it came Friday, they just list one being for a 64 action with a factory barrel channel and I believe the bottom metal is the only thing that fit.
After about 5 hours of work I finally got it fitted, got up Saturday morning hoping to shot it a the fun match Saturday evening but I just wasn't getting along with it so I shot the Tikka instead, finally settled down and shot decent in the second half. I got up early this morning and whipped up a bolt knob and adjusted the trigger a little heavier and done a lot better todaylKIMG0316.JPG

Great shot.

Back in the 70s I had two friends that were serious bench rest shooters (one ended up in a bench rest hall of fame), and we found out that flying bugs were attracted to the bullet holes on the targets they used for 100 yard practice. It was fun to watch them bet 25 cents a shot with each other on who would get the bug first. Once in awhile I saw a bug last until the third shot, not often...

When did you order the stock? I was just on their site and it didn't show the pro-v for the 64 action. What did you have to do to inlet it?

I ordered it May 9th received it May 27, I had checked before myself and didn't see one listed either, so I was just looking around and seen it, but as soon as I ordered that one, that style was not available anymore. The bolt release, safety had to be cut in, the barrel channel took a lot of work and the rear of the receiver inlet had to be lengthened about 3/16" to the rear.

I SHOT A GRASSHOPPER DURING A MATCH A FEW YEARS BACK, HAD TO WAIT FOR IT TO CRAWL OFF THE TARGET, TOOK HIM WHEN HE GOT ONTO CARDBOARD BACKER, STILL A COUPLE OF SECONDS LEFT ON TIMER, WAS TOLD AFTER THE MATCH, JOKINGLY OF COURSE, BY THE MATCH DIRECTOR, THAT HE WAS CONSIDERING DISQUALIFYING ME FOR SHOOTING "WILDLIFE" ON THE RANGE! HAD A GREAT LAUGH!!! I STILL HAVE THE CARDBOARD! I DID WIN THAT MATCH, BUT AM PROUDER OF THE GRASSHOPPER SHOT THAN THE 250 THAT DAY!!
