Another export question

Hello. I am new to this forum and I apologize in advance if I'm asking a question that has an obvious answer. I live in the US and have a revolver with a very bad trigger. The company used to produce a "trigger conversion kit" but it is almost impossible to find one. That is to say, there is exactly one left on the planet so far as I can tell, and it lives in a gun shop in Australia. The company that sells the part tells me that they don't ship outside of the country. But they won't respond to my inquiry about whether that is just store policy or if it because of the new export/import restrictions. I have read about these restrictions but there seems to be some disagreement about small parts and how much parts are worth. Can anyone tell me if there is a way to have this trigger conversion kit shipped to the US? Do individuals have license to do so who would be willing to do it for a fee?
Thank you for considering my question.
Dan

I dont believe that we have any export restrictions on parts like that esp to the US. It is most likely that it is just too hard for the store to be bothered. It is amazing what can be shipped if you just put stuff in a box and send it ordinary post.

Thank you for your response David! I was hoping that was the case. So....if you know anyone who would be willing to purchase this item and ship it to me I would be happy to offer a nice "finders" fee. :-) They could contact me directly at dan@gourmetpapermache.com

From the stuff I've been following about Australia, they are in a real jam politically
now that all started with the covid. Very oppressive restrictive government over there.
They threw it all away when they threw away all of their firearms years ago.

exactly like their crippled cousin green NZ.
when I lived in NZ, I also found a spring used on Mark II's and it was considered a restricted part to be shipped out of aus. a friend of mine that lived in aus bought it for me and sent it over to nz.
if you know someone in australia, they can buy it for you.

you need to brush up on the facts about guns in AU, you can watch a short Vid on Utube Mark and Sam 4A you know the long range shooter in AU, he's not throwing those bullets by hand. I have bought several gun parts from AU., find someone to go to the gun store and buy the kit and then send it to you.

I was not the person that asked the original question about the part.

I know, but you made the statement about AU throwing away their guns and that's not true
Well you didn't see the vids I saw of the government cutting up thousands of long guns
and loading them into dump trucks with front end loaders to be hauled off and smelted.
Please tell me what it takes for the average Australian to purchase and own a firearm
in their home nowadays.

Thank you for all your replies. Yes, it appears that I could have someone buy it and send it to me. Now, I just someone who lives in Australia who might consider doing that for me. Trust meI would make it worth your time! If you live in Australia and would like more details with me please send me a note via dan@gourmetpapermache.com. Much appreciated

Went through a similar situation with a part for a Barnard. It's all in the wording on the package. "Small machined parts" won't raise export inspection eyebrows. Find a local shooter who will purchase and ship for you. Good luck! I got crickets asking.
Emailed a dozen gunsmiths over there before I got lucky. Be prepared for shipping cost.

Thank you Moondog. Glad I'm not the first to ask. I don't expect a herd of people asking to help. But I just need one. And I'm willing to make it worth their while. Take care

what you saw was the result of the gov buy back scheme. What people handed in were unregistered rifles and rifles so old you couldnt get parts for or that people didnt want anymore and the gov payed them for the old guns. We can import just about anything gu.n related as long as we get a import permit Same as exporting we need to get a export permit if its a gun part.

for a licened person to buy a firearm in Australia they must apply for a permit to acquire a firearm and if you have the correct endorsement on your licence they will send you a permit Then just go to a gunshop pay for thr gun and walk out the door. Its not that restrictive at all if you have a firearms license.

The attached link may go some way to explain why Aussies are reluctant to help you out.

A Trigger Mechanism is a Firearm Part and subject to Import/Export controls.

In Australia, if you are licenced for the Category of Firearm you want, you can purchase once you have the Permit as above. You can buy a trigger or firearm parts as long as they have been imported legally.

The thing is, Over here, if you break the rules, the Police will confiscate your Licence and your firearms.

Basically, bolt action rifles (rimfire and centerfire), and NON self loading shot guns we have little problem owning.

However, Semi Auto Anything needs special permit.

Handguns are much more strictly controlled.

You must demonstrate a "Genuine Reason" to get a Firearms Licence, usually Target Shooting / Hunting / Collecting.

"SELF DEFENCE" is a BIG NO NO.

I contacted the Australian police to get the proper forms to export the parts I needed.
They were very polite and helpful. It seems like an overwhelming process, but it can be done. I spent 2 months making it happen.

MILLIONS! {AS IT SAYS IN THE WIKIPEDIA ARTICLE) of guns that they "didn't want anymore"??? MILLIONS???
