ANOTHER EASY BALD EAGLE REST MOD.

Bill Norris

Back in the Day
After installing the better brass swivel feet to the rest you gain over an inch in elevation which in most cases will cause the rest to sit much higher than it did with the factory adjusting feet. I looked at several ideas of losing that elevation but decided that what I thought was the hardest I would give a shot. It worked out perfectly. Just remove all the parts down to the naked base - take a 7/8 " drill bit and install it in your drill press - and drill into the bottom of the legs 3/4 " so the top portion of the brass foot will go up inside of the leg. Probably best to have someone give you a hand with holding it still and level on the drill press table. See pic below of the difference in height by doing this. 3/4 " of the gain by installing the new brass feet is now gone and the elevation of the front rest is almost back to where it was before installing them.

I do em' to all my rests. McMaster Carr is where i shop my parts
from, then modify from there. I expand the size of my swivel bottoms
up to 3" then glue on non skid thin rubber......Here's a BE I did for the
grandson and expanded the feet to 2". Added one of Butch's Shade
Tree tops and added a longer joy stick.

Yea I put the non-skid tape from Lowe's on the bottom of the swivel feet too.

Bill, your rear leg will interfere with your joystick handle.

I solved the rear leg problem by just bolting the swivel foot
direct. It's hard to see in my pic but there is no long screw,
just the top of the bolt showing. The joy stick clears by quite
a bit, and even let me bend the extension to get it closer to the
bench top, which I prefer like on my other joystick rests......If I
do need more height, I just add a male/female extension, for
that leg if needed. At two of the ranges I shoot at, it has not
been needed. Ridgway, since your shooting down hill on the
closer banks, I use my extension underneath.

Yea I think I may go ahead and remedy that right away. Once the top is here on Monday we will be able to figure out how much we need to remove.
