Very sorry for your loss, jds. Losing a canine companion has got to be one of the worst, if not the worst, feelings in the world. Please accept my condolences and may Gunner rest in peace.

Fwiw... In the space of 2 months… last December and January past … we buried both of our 13 plus year old Jack russells.

About 4 months ago we got 2 cats... rescues from the humane societie.

It really does help the healing.

Due to the pain of the loss, my wife swore… no more pets. You see how well that worked… lol

That’s tough. I love him too just from hearing how sad you are to lose him. I just got to know my friend’s 15 month old GSP by hunting pheasants for three days and bunking in the same room with them for 3 nights and I miss him a lot, the dog I mean.

So sorry for your loss. People who aren't dog lovers will never understand how deep it can hurt. I was told once that a dog is 10 or15 years of your life but you're that dogs whole life. I can tell from your words he was well loved his whole life.

I've pretty much been around the house today, and it is weird and sad.
