I recently sold some 348 Winchester brass to a fellow member. I sent the brass out the next day via USPS priority. The brass should have gone from Arizona to Utah, 2 days was the ETA. His check came not long after we made the deal, when I let him know the check arrived he said the brass still hadn’t arrived. He asked for tracking, my niece works for me and had sent the package and forget to put it in my receipt box. I couldn’t give him tracking but I did tell him I wouldn’t cash the check unless the brass showed. He was patient and courteous, brass ended up showing up - finally. Here’s his quote “The reason it was so slow coming here is, It went to Phoenix, Then San Antonio Tx, Then Back to Avondale Az, Then to Las Vegas then to Cedar City, I can see why the PO is losing money.” That’s not an isolated incident.

This seems to be happening more and more. I only share it to express my appreciation for his professionalism and patience. It’s something I like about dealing with gun and knife guys, typically they are good people who deal with each other with some professionalism.

I do get disappointed with the USPS and others but I can’t do much about that. I’m only sharing to say thanks. I would have sent him more brass if it didn’t show but it worked out. This is a good group of guys, I’m glad I’m part of it.

And you are to be commended for your professionalism as well. Dealing with you has always been a pleasure with no complaints whatsoever. Top shelf at it's finest no doubt.

The truth is the usps S U C K S ! ! ! . Tommy Mc

I recently sent a rifle scope from Alabama to Tennessee. It went to Knoxville TN, Wyoming, Denver, Dallas back to Knoxville and finally to the addressee. USPS is at the bottom of the barrel and trying to cut through the bottom.
When I read about these "all over the country" travels I wonder just how in the heck this happens. There is an address and the tracking number on the box. Only thing I can figure is too much weed and some of the employees could care less. They just want to draw a check and figure someone who cares will point the shipment in the right direction.
It's mind boggling

I can only conceive of 2 possible explanations.

Either the USPS employees are intentionally doing this as some sort or revolt, or.

The tracking is completely erroneous and just put in to avoid admitting it sat somewhere for a ridiculous amount of time without moving.

I'm inclined to believe the second possibility.

When it sits for days, that's when the tracking shows "in transit". It might be that way for days. I think the scans all over the map are legitimate. The package is being handled and transported way more than it ought to be, adding unnecessary costs to the USPS and certainly adding avoidable frustration for those sending and receiving packages.

Amazon has a path worn out in my driveway. I bet we get two or three deliveries a week at least. I can only recall one order that didn't show up on the promised date in the last few years. Amazon has the logistics figured out. The USPS could learn a thing or two from them. UPS and FedEx ought to pay attention too because they also mess up more than they should.

Reminds me of a few months back I had a package coming USPS that came within 60 miles of my P O only to go back up the east coast and back down within app 2 weeks before finally making it back. The P O clerk said we don't know what is going on with it.

A few months back l got a courtesy call from the water dept saying they had not received payment. l was now ''PAST DUE''. l promptly went to city hall and paid the past due amt along with the late fee. A few days later l dropped by the bank to ask about the check for my lost water bill. l was told the lost check had cleared along with the replacement l had written. lt seems it had taken 23 days for my lost check to cover 3 miles from the post office to city hall. Both are on the same street too!

1.5-2 weeks, don’t remember for sure. Luckily the buyer was easy to work with, I would have taken care of him either way though. Thanks!

Would these scenic routes going back and forth be the results of mis sorts?

I am in Central Texas -2 hours south of Dallas, and hour north of Austin. It routinely takes at least a week for anything mailed to get anywhere in the CONUS, or the same time to me. I add this amount of time to any mailing horizon and let recipients know what to expect.

How true.
And that’s a single stamp envelope. Any type of Parcel is taking three+ weeks.

I have had three of these experiences this year.

I had the electrical board for my lathe serviced and repaired in Maine. It went from Maine to Massachusetts...where it sat for three days. Once it escaped from Massachusetts, there was a four day gap in tracking history. Finally, the tracking showed it was at my local center to be delivered the next day. Instead, it went to Denver...where it sat for three days. Then to Omaha and then to me.

That three day Priority Mail service I paid for took thirteen days.
