This little cartridge continues to impress. I just put together a new fun build for me and loving how its turned out. I have slowly been acquiring parts over the last year or so and finally got it all done and put together this weekend. I am intending this to be my new carry around general purpose hunting rifle, from Jack Rabbits to Mule Deer. It will probably see more Jack Rabbits and Coyotes than anything, since I can't seem to draw a deer tag.
1. PTG Weatherby 307 action with stiller bolt.
2. Proof 20" Carbon Sendero 7.5 twist barrel
3. Peak 44 Carbon Stock
4. Jard 1.5lb trigger
5. Leupold VX3 6.5-20X50
The rifle ended up just a hair over 7lbs with a full mag, and it carries and balances like a dream. I took it out to the range for some break-in and to get the scope zeroed up for some serious load development. The wind was gusty and nasty like it normally is in spring here, but the rifle still shot very well I thought. I loaded up some 108gr Berger Elite Hunters in Alpha brass and picked 37.5gr of H4350 since that load has done really well in rifles I have done in the past and it didn't disappoint. I was getting 2942fps and single digit SDs right from the get go. Attached are shots 6-10 & 11-15 after getting the scope dialed in pretty close. Should be a nice shooter once I finish dialing her in.
