Another 6.5 creedmoor/ 204 ruger question

Hi all, I am about to order the dies redding type S FL dies for both of these cases and wanted to double check the bushing sizes used in each. For my Hornady creedmoor brass I got an average neck thickness of 0.011-0.012 which puts me at 0.264+0.0115*2 = 0.286. That minus the suggested 0.002 reduction puts me at a 0.284 bushing for my creedmoor.

For my 204 I got an average neck wall thickness of 0.007 which puts me at .204+0.014 = .218 - 0.002 = 0.216 bushing. From what I have seen floating around this one seems smaller than a lot of other people's measurements.

Let me know what you think.

Hey Ben,
The 0.284 is too small. I have a tight neck in my 6.5CM and using a 0.289. Loaded factory ammo is around 0.290". If you have a factory chamber you might be looking at 0.292" for a bushing.

Can you neck turn? this will true up the necks some. I turn always and Ream (when needed from necking down .308 to 6.5CM) as part of my new brass routine.

Your math should be loaded neck size +0.002" = neck ID in chamber (make it match)
and bush down 0.001" to 0.002" for allowable return on brass.

Best of luck and safe shooting.
