Another 22 cal question

Guys i have several Remage prefits and looking to add one more in 22 cal. Currently setup for 6xc, 308, 7rem mag, 300prc also a 22-250. Looking for something to run heavier 22 cal bullets 88's and 90 smk. A new caliber doesnt bother me. Now i can build a 22xc and run 75's all day. Looking to stay in the .473 bolt face, almost set on doing a shorter cartridge like the GT or the BRA. Thoughts and opinions? This will be the last cartridge i build for awhile.

For running the heavies I'd want a little more case capacity so I would probably do a 22 Creedmoor. Alpha Munitions makes some really good brass and they do 22CM brass so you would be all set.

Would be a plus, but maybe something with better barrel life.

Maybe a .22GT with a fast twist would fit the bill. Just a thought. Or a .22x47 Lapua would be cool as well.

I have run most of them. Still have a 22gt. If I had a do over I would have went 22x47L. I have a 6 and 6.5x47L so adding a 22 seems like a good option.
Dont overspin them or you will hate life. Keep them under 300k rpm. Use the brux barrel with .001 oversized bore. Do not use 7 twist.

GT or BRA capable of shooting 90gr smk ? They would use less powder than 22-250 ai or 22XC

This will be the last cartridge i build for awhile.

I said that about three projects a year ago.

Am trying to get the 22 Clark up and running……….mean while back at the ranch………. I sold one of my prized wheel guns, 357 Maximum Bisley, reinvested that to a 220 Swift till the Clark is ready to play.

I ordered a 22xc from brad hes making good money on be as this is my 3rd barrel since November. Scored 286 pieces of Peterson XC brass for cheap, so game on!

What made you stick with the 22GT

I'm not stuck, it's just where I quit. I ran 22250AI, 223AI, 22 BRI and the GT all with 88-95gr bullets. Also run a 221AI with 75gr ELDs. I have not shot a CF PRS match in 3 years now so guns just sit.
Case capacity vs gains I think a straight 22250, 22gt or 22x47L is pretty top end. With the 75s I think probably the 22BR or BRA would be great.

.22 Dasher. Plenty of boiler room for the heavier bullets and a fair amount less powder than many of the others in discussion. Excellent brass options, too.

I've had 223 Ai 8 twist Crieteron 75g bullets, 22Brrx 8 twist Bartelien 75g, 22/250 Ai Brux 8tw 80g and 22/250 Ai Bartelien 7 tw 88g to name a few. My favorites are the first 2.

Essentially Swift performance. Requires expensive dies. Feeding from a magazine might get wonky although it’s never been an issue for me. It’s way easier (and cheaper) to go with something a little more mainstream like a 22 Creedmoor.

22xc brass has been made, now to load up some 90gr smk and see what she will do.
