PLEASE READ Annual Message to Members -- Why Upgrades Are Important

Kinda worse than the government. 3 percent pays for the rest. I think something should be done about that.
Like $5 from everybody. If a dude can't come up with that you shouldn't want him anyway.

I agree, but think about this. There are members that I remember being Gold members that apparently let it run out without renewing while continuing to use the site. I still see them post on here, but no banner next to their name...o_O. To me that's a whole new level of being cheap.... I mean c'mon, a Silver membership is only $0.06 a day.

Here are two recent examples of the editorial content we provide, part of the 1000 stories per year released. Both stories include some new product info not (yet) found on any other gun site:

Single-Stage Press Showcase
8 presses, 7 video links, 4 hours of work (and a couple items we bet you've never seen before):

Forum membership fees help pay the bills, thereby permitting me to provide these kind of stories.

I am not aware of any other large gun Forum that also releases significant editorial content every day of the year, including major Benchrest and F-Class match reports. While there are numerous Gun Blogs with daily content, none are connected with an affiliated Forum with championship-level members who provide helpful insights.

Boss,
Just renewed for 2019. Lets keep this ship afloat as it's the best "Shooting, Weapons/Equipment and Reloading" info website I've seen in the last 10 yrs.

Alex

@Forum Boss, Any thoughts on sending a suggested invoice/poll to all members as a PM? Help all members by making it easy to donate money. An actual link in a PM asking for a suggested payment?

Platinum=$100
Gold=$50
Silver=$20
Patron=$10

I honestly think most forum members have learned something worth joining at one of these levels and they just need a helping hand in the logistics of paying.

A gold membership costs the same as 1 box of 100 bullets. Did all of us learn something from this forum which saved us some blind level of testing? Probably.

Let’s fund this site and help it grow!

Well said. But I think we can do even better.....maybe 2 layers above Gold. Something like this:
Platinum=$200 (maybe give an AMERICAN MADE hat with it. Gotta advertise at the range)
Titanium=$100
Gold=$50
Silver=$20
Patron=$10

Why not? Doesn't hurt to try.....If the boss implements it, I'll gladly be the first one to go Platinum or whatever he calls the $200.00 level. Maybe he would even be kind enough to send me a PM when it's in place so nobody beats me to it.

When I look at what I own related to shooting or hunting, $200.00 is nothing. And to your point, the knowledge that I have gained on this site has saved me a ton of money in components and time too. If I had to do all the testing that others have done, by myself, to get the results that others have already gotten, there would have been a whole lot of wasted powder and lead for sure. Not to mention the little tips and tricks I've picked up from the members that have posted videos over the years. This site is truly an invaluable resource. I struggle to figure out how some people can be so tight that they won't even spend $20.00. If you're on hard times, so be it. I've been there..... but if you are logging into this site, gathering knowledge so you can reload and tune your new bench gun this weekend, just peel off a twenty and drop it in the mail on your way to the range. You'll feel better for doing it!

This is the most Informative Forum in our sport. Give up the Starbucks and pitch in... I did. Happy New Year Shooters.

Leo -- I like that perspective -- for the price of a cup of coffee once a month you can support this site.

Another way to look at it -- a couple movie tickets cost $20 these days -- same as a Silver membership. With the tickets you get a couple hours of entertainment (if you're lucky). With the Silver membership you get a YEAR's worth of information, plus the ability to sell your stuff all year long.

Diamond and platinum sounds good. If you're going to buy something on Amazon, don't forget to click through the link at the top of the forum page.

I don't care about the Platinum or Diamond levels. I wish you would start charging every person that signs up! I once belonged to a site that charged $1.00 to sign up. Why can't we do the same thing here and still have the other levels of donations?

I've been apart of forums that have done this in the past and it killed every one of them. Not saying it would happen here, but I personally haven't seen it work well.

Guess I don't understand how creating two more expensive tiers that only a handful will support will help motivate those who can't pop for at least $20. If a person really wants to donate more to the site I'm sure the Boss can find a way to use it. Maybe create a donation list of honor if recognition of extra donations is the goal. Ongoing gentle nudges in posts (keep it polite) would probably garner more income than perceived "elitist" levels being created.
Just my .02 cents.

Since I think this started before you were a member, I'll try to explain it a little. If I am wrong, somebody please jump in and correct me.... This started a couple years ago when it seemed like there were a considerable amount of people using the forum ONLY for the classifieds. It was just a good place for them to sell stuff. While that seems harmless, with it came scammers. So the Boss put some restrictions on the use of the classifieds and made the 2 levels of membership, which also acted as a good way to generate badly needed funds. The 2 different levels have different levels of benefit too. Some people think it's a good idea to charge everyone a small fee. That may cause people to leave, so it hasn't been done....Since less than a few percent donate, a Silver membership equates to a few "small fees". 1 Gold = a few more "small fees". In my opinion, there should be more layers because I don't think that a guy making a $5.00 monthly donation gets recognized, but I could be wrong. As far as it being an elitist thing goes, some people just like to go "all in" and that's me. If I do something I want to do it the best I can. That's why I am an NRA Benefactor member. Some people are ok with good enough and other people think that good enough isn't good enough. It's not about being an elitist at all, it's all about finding ways to encourage people to donate. This site is awesome and it can't be easy to maintain, so if you can't get everyone to donate a little, you might as well give the ones that do donate a reward for donating more.
