As we enter a New Year, I want to take this opportunity to communicate.
This message is directed to all our members. First I want to thank the generous Gold and Silver members who help support the site -- your contributions are vital to sustain the services we provide. About 1400 folks (3% of 43,200) are now Silver or Gold.
Second, I want to encourage those who have not upgraded yet, to consider doing so. If you upgrade to Silver or Gold you can really help the site -- you will be doing something positive and very important.
A Silver membership is just $20 per year -- that works out to just thirty-eight cents ($0.38) per week. A $50 Gold membership is just $0.96 per week. Either way that is very affordable.
What You Get -- Upgraded members get unlimited Classifieds for a full 12 months. How much is that worth? Consider this -- if you were to sell ONE $2000 rifle on Gunbroker you would have to pay $76.25 in fees. That's over 50% more than our Gold membership and you'll pay that for just ONE transaction.

By becoming a Silver or Gold membership you can really help the site -- and make a difference.

Right now only 3% of members have upgraded. If we could raise that number even to 5% it would help us do so much more for our membership -- more field tests, upgrading the Forum software, increasing tech support for all.
REASONS We Need Member Support
1. Forum membership has grown by over 40% in the last three years. As the membership grows, so do our expenses -- for servers, security services, photo hosting, web programming.
2. We do get advertising revenues, but as the Forum grows, membership support is becoming increasingly important. One reason is that virtually ALL the big online ad networks "black-ball" gun-related sites like this. Some very big forces in the internet are working against the firearms community -- that's why member support is vital.
3. We have a skeleton staff. Yet we produce MORE content than an NRA magazine does with multiple Editors and a platoon of freelancers. We release 1000 stories a year in the Bulletin, and dozens of major articles in the main site. If we had substantially more member support we could hire writers to do more important projects and tests, sharing that info with the members.
4. We serve a large, active Forum -- with 43,200 members, the equivalent of a major State University's enrollment (e.g. Penn State is 40,552). But we do all that, and release 1000 stories a year, for less than the annual budget of one kindergarten classroom (salary and overhead). Imagine what we could do with greater funding.
