Annie's first deer...

Well it looks like I'm out a perfectly good Remington 700, 257 Roberts seeing I promised her it was her's if she would shoot a deer with it.. She did just that at 4:30 this afternoon. She had it in the scope for awhile and said it's a 8 point, can I shoot it ? I told her it was her call, and if she was happy with it, pull the trigger...So she did.. and then started to shake as bad as I was.. Really nice first time hunter deer..
At 135 yards it took a good hit and ran about 20 yards and piled up. Doubt I've ever seen a kid as happy as she was...

That's more than a fair trade for the memories that you'll have from this hunt.......

Nice job Annie!!

Being a .257 user myself, can you tell me a little about the bullet/load used and it's performance(dead deer-so worked, but exit, blood trail,etc.).

Thanks

Bruce, Very Commendable! You are Down Right a Class Act and I am very proud to be able to call you a friend! For the time you spend with Annie and the other neighbor kids. You have set the legacy bar high for the rest of us to follow! As a father of girls Annies age, I know how proud the girls get and that smile of Annies says it all!!

Super big Kudos to Annie Oakly. Now a challenge to Annie, time to get behind the big 338 you were shooting last week to reach out and thump something from a far, that will make your brothers stand up and take notice (and turn green from envy) ;D ..

Bruce you gotta show her this post....

AWSOME!! I had a great hunting experience last year with my daughter, she fondly remembers every detail of it. Money can't buy these moments in life. Good work Dad!

Congrats to both Annie and you Bruce! What a great story, trade and shot! I'm taking my daughter out this afternoon for some squirrel hunting. Taking the youngsters hunting is about as good as life can get!

She was shooting 100 grain Speer hollow points because I had a bunch of them and they shot so good in that rifle I just kept on using them. She can put 2 into less than a inch at 200 yards...
We were loading up 20 the other day and she asked, why do I need so many 'O)
She double lunged him and he only went about 20 yards... Turned the lungs to pudding, have not seen if it exited or not yet..
She is just a neighbor girl from down the road that I have helped for the past 10 years along with both her brothers. They have not got any deer yet this year, so she is pretty proud of that..
She seemed sad that buck season was over for her, and asked if she could just come up and set with me while I was trying to fill my tags... You guys that know me, already know the answer to that ....

Great job to both of you. I love to see that we have future hunters coming up in the ranks. Having two daughters myself this inspires me to look forward to something.
She needs to be very thankful to have such a neighbor.

Ahhh! Now you see! I hopped online tonight just because I thought to myself today it's about time for Preacher to post his pics and tell his story of this years hunt from his Condo! Way to go Annie, and Preacher! Hope there will be more to come. Preacher give Annie your tags and let her rock and roll lol! Awesome Stuff!
