AMP Annealer program question

I have just obtained new Peterson 284 Winchester brass and was wanting to get some program information if anyone has tested it with their Aztec AMP annealer. New Zealand has not tested any yet as of yesterday. Mine is an earlier version which did not come with the Aztec. TIA.

If you have Aztec you can use pilot #12 and Aztec pilot code 012 A to analyse the case and get the setting.
All 284 Win cases use that analysis code regardless of the brand.

Wes if you would like to send me a piece of that brass I can run it through Aztec mode and share the setting with you if you would like, just send me a PM

Hey Wes,

I could be wrong here, but I don't believe the Aztec and the 'legacy' AMP programs correspond.

i.e. I'm running lake city .223 brass at Aztec code 128, but if I go look at the program codes generated by AMP, they're running .223 brass in the 30s-50s.

Basically, an Aztec code isn't going give you any point of reference unless you're also running Aztec

Well,
Looks like the answer is to send six fired cases with the primer pocket drilled out to New Zealand for analysis. I really can’t see any other way to get the correct corresponding program for my machine.
Thanks for everyone’s reply’s and offers/suggestions.

Is the drilling out the primer pockets something new? I have sent them a bunch of samples and never drilled out the pockets.

It is suggested in the literature they want filled out to send with the brass.
I suppose it’s to make sure no one thinks you are exporting something you shouldn’t.
On another note I just finished watching a YouTube video on upgrading to Aztec. Seems easy enough and if I read the home page correctly for AMP it is now free. I only have to find the USB connection that came with my annealer.
Has anyone recently upgraded?

I did it a few months ago. Nothing to it. It wasn't free when I did it.

The Aztec is not a free download, the free download is for the installer only. The key to activate it still needs to be purchased. If it was free I doubt Brownells and other AMP dealers would be selling it.
But then, what do I know!

Okay then, I will purchase the upgrade. I found the USB cable that is necessary to transfer the information from my laptop to the annealer and have downloaded the “patch”. So, once I’ve purchased the unlock code should be good to go. Thanks again to all those offering positive suggestions. Mr Miles I’m sure you are correct, but then, what do I know.

That's the smart thing to do.

You can update the annealer at any time even if you do not have the unlock code.
You get the option to enter a code at the end of the update process and if you dont have one you can select no and then use the annealer as you did previously.

Six pieces? When I got my Gen-I unit just after they arrived in North America, I decided to send a piece of once fired brass in every one of my calibers to New Zealand for analysis. But only a single piece, not six.
Of course now, you can use someone who has the Aztec to do your analysis. I would offer, but I'm in Canada.

As stated above, having somebody with Aztec analyze brass brass for another person who's AMP does not have Aztec will do no good. The Aztec calculation cannot be used on a non-Aztec machine, it won't run.

Yes, my bad. Sorry.

The only problem is that the Aztec analysis is incompatible with the standard program. I am in the process of upgrading to the Aztec to do it myself.
Here’s the newest form from Alex Findly for sending brass in for analysis:
