Ammo Question/Tuner Question

Since you only have this one brick, and finding more of this same lot will be difficult at best, you are pretty limited on actually getting the Annie "tuned" the way most are referring to. Several of the different tuner settings indicate the rifle/ammo will shoot at those settings, test those with 5 shot groups, and then shoot a row of the ARA target at that setting. Does it shoot consistently in the groups AND on the row of targets ? Good groups are an indicator of good ammo, but shooting a row of targets is a usually a better indicator of consistent ammo. Shooting groups vs moving from target to target will show inconsistencies in lots of things about your setup, which I did not see (type of front/rear rest, etc). Moving the gun from target to target after each shot brings lots of ugly things into the light.

You state that the SK semi auto is the best you can afford at this time, so get some more of this ammo and see if it shoots as well as the current lot of ammo you have at the same tuner settings. This should tell you if your Annie likes this level of ammo pretty good or you got an exceptional lot the first time.
Hey thanks for the response and patience. A few guys at my club ordered a case so there are about 3 bricks left that I can get.
I have a sinclair rest with windage and a bald eagle rear bag.

It's been debated? By who? I wouldn't pay $17 for a box of Center-X either. That's more like Midas+ money. And I would pay $17/box for that

Honestly, if I was only into this for 3 months and I had limited funds I wouldn't be spending it on a tuner. I'd be buying better ammo and maybe a set of decent wind flags. What kind of rest are you using? There's a lot of other things I'd be doing before messing around with a tuner. Forget the tuner for awhile and shoot the rifle without it. Revisit sometime down the road when you have the experience and the means to do it right.

I'm out too. Good luck!
Sorry post didn't go through I was saying it was debated as to whether or not I could use 1 setting for different ammo.
Sinclair rest and yes more wind flags is next on the list

Doc you would be better off spending twice as much on ammo and shooting half as much to break even, at least to learn something concrete with consistent ammo. The cheaper stuff is only useful for plinking instead of generating useless data and chasing your tail. I've been there!

@gunsandgunsmithing Finally got a chance to tune today this is the first revolution 0-24. Sk semi auto at 50 yards. I see groups 7 and 15 as the best. Other than. That I don't know what else I'm supposed to see.
The second picture I went through the whole range 0-500. One full revolution at a time. I think the best range is 375 -425
The last picture is 375 -425
I like 405,420 and 425

Now you have a place to test further.
You can (a) take your best settings & see if you can repeat them consecutively, multiple times, day in day out, month after month
(b) start on the low side of you best settings, say 10 clicks, & shoot 10 clicks beyond it in 3 shot groups, 2 clicks apart. Forget shooting the targets. Turn the target around & form a large enough grid with vertical & horizontal lines to do this. So for instance, 395,397,399,401,403,405,407,409,411,413,& 415. Look at the sine wave it forms & see if your favorite 405 is on top of the wave formed. AND THAT ITS REPEATABLE
You can do the same thing on any of your initial better groups & determine which you like best.
Now, you've rubbed a couple of our more experienced shooters who genuinely intended to help, the wrong way Two of the very few who participate on the various forums & share their experience. Keep this in mind going fwd & try keep your personal opinion, or form it, to yourself. Just a thought....

Doc, how knowledgeable are with the Anschutz 54 action? looking at some of the groups I want to say you have a bit of an ignition problem. #3 and 9 are a good example the dropped shots at almost straight vertical from the other shots. when was the last time the firing pin spring was changed?
could be a spring change is needed or the firing pin is not moving freely inside the bolt. this last part on pin moving freely could be why there seems to be flippers shots that are way up and out of the group. coil bind is common problem. of shots that form two separate groups
