Ammo Prices and Gouging

Got up this morning and checked my email. First thing I see is "Cheaper Than Dirt" advertising Eley Edge at $20.70 a box of 50 and Tenex at $34.96. I then went to Ammo Seek and the price of Edge is $10.97 and Tenex is $19.60.

I realize every retailer is making extra profit on ammo these days but That's one hell of a difference. Can one major retailer buy their products cheaper than another major retailer. We are not talking about the Mom and Pop stores here who buy in small volumes.

This is outrageous price gouging.

Cheaper than dirt is a false advertisement.. they always gouge on ammo ever since the store moved locations it has been that way. Many of us local customer base has written it off as a no go.

I wouldn’t compare anything to them unless your buying for say half of whatever ctd advertises.

If prices rose to match demand these shortages would last a fraction of the time they currently do.

Why in the World are you dealing with CTD? when the ammo shortage happened several years ago their prices were so outrageous shooters swore to boycott them for life.
I swore never to buy from them before that, when they refused to sell me several (5) cases of the same lot of ammo. reason all the cases are broken down and stock on the shelves as loose boxes. I even spoke with a supervisor on the phone!

Two important points to think about. First, supply and demand. Best system in the long run, no doubt. Second and most important. Those who abuse us by gouging, remember them. Never buy from them even if down the road they have a good price. That includes some advertisers on this site who in the past have gouged. The consumer has the ultimate control if he chooses to use it.

I had mentioned it in another thread but i received an email from an online retailer for ammo and they notified me to let me know they had a case (1000) of S&B in stock. Before everything the price was $329.99 and the price that day was $799.79.

The bad thing I am thinking now is it won't be long until people are posting about how sorry any of us are if we keep more than a brick of ammo for ourselves at one time. How "we" are the problem as we are "hoarders" and therefore directly responsible for the shortages.

After all the political hoopla and the crap we see every single day on the idiot tube - If your a shooter and don't have a couple of cases of (various) ammo in the closet....... Well - let me put it this way..... Well Bless your little old simple heart.

I have never bought anything from them. I receive email from them and a lot of others I don't deal with. Sometimes they have something

I started seeing inflated prices on ammo show up on a local for sale site a few weeks ago. Same characters, same play, just a different act.

I remember when cheaper than dirt was selling junk and I meen junk used GI mags for $99 , I think after Sandy Hook... I was seeing were people were buying them and couldn't combine two to get one to work.... After seeing that I have never bought another thing from them... One thing you can bet on in life is they will take advantage of every situation they can....

Lower than Dirt does this every time. I don't know what their regular price is - never looked after the first time they pulled this.
In my opinion, Demand should never rise to their level. Mystery to me how they have any customers.

I don't refer to them as Cheaper than Dirt or Lower than Dirt. I just call them DIRT.
