American Sniper

I liked the movie, sure there were some inaccuracies, like the reticles, the funeral firing squad rifles not ejecting fired brass, and combining things from the book out of sequence but these were minor things. What the movie did do was to show how gradually tour after tour began to play with his head.
The part about Sheep, Wolves, and Sheep dogs is so true. My liberal neighbors don't get it and never will even when the wolves come knocking at their own door.
The theatre was packed, not an open seat. When the movie was over we exited and there was a line waiting wrapped completely around the lobby to enter. I have NEVER seen that at this theatre for any movie we have attended. NEVER. What do you think this tells our liberal neighbors and media?

It would have been much more interesting, had it not been so mythical. Our buttered popcorn was more palatable ???

I would appreciate your clarification of this statement.

Ray
Sure Ray. It isn't a documentary, and nothing more than another big budget, money making action film for Clint Eastwood. More than 30 million dollars on opening day. By Monday, they expect to surpass 80 million dollars :o

Your explanation is Money? I would be upset that it didn't make money, the more it earns the happier I am.. I'm glad that I live in a country that still honors the brave..Like said in a earlier post the movie didn't follow the book to a T, but it got the jest of it.. I respect your opinion, but unless you served with Chris Kyle then you or I don't have anymore first hand knowledge then Eastwood, Which may I add murdered the redneck statement from the book. Chris talked well and considered himself a redneck, he did however say you needed an interpreter for hillbillies..

After serving 3 tours in Vietnam, Laos, and Cambodia, I have a great understanding about reality Ray. For me, a documentary would have been a more fitting way to honor someone.

Interesting thread, reminds me of snipershide.

Subject matter aside...for me a movie is a movie. I personally do not expect any more authenticity or accuracy than I would the 1960 Spartacus with Kirk Douglas.

What I want to know is did he neck turn or anneal, and how far off the lands he was.

Naa, what I really want to know was the round count on the barrel that made the 2100 yd shot. ;)

Caught it this afternoon. I enjoyed it.

That's just not right, stealing that movie. Don't watch it there, pay admission at a theater and watch it there.

Someone is still mad at Eastwood for "The Empty Chair" skit from the last erection. If "tree hugging" Redford made the movie, he'd call it an epic.

Nah. This quote from Eastwoods biography say's it all LH.

"I've always supported a certain amount of gun control".

You wouldn't cast your vote for a politician who supports gun control, yet, you will put money into the hands of a producer/director who does :o Amazing >:(

Movies are movies, they are made for the purposes of entertainment. If a movie is entertaining it will most likely be profitable. You have to understand some parts of a movie, based on real life stories, might be some what different than reality. To me no big deal. Now if you are talking about an autobiography where there is spinning of yarns, embellishing of facts or other deviations of actual accounts, that's a whole other matter. Ray
