American Sniper

Nah. This quote from Eastwoods biography say's it all LH.

"I've always supported a certain amount of gun control".

You wouldn't cast your vote for a politician who supports gun control, yet, you will put money into the hands of a producer/director who does :o Amazing >:(

I think Clint meant "aim small miss small" about his gun control comment.

That one is actually from a celebrity magazine Ray. "I have a very strict gun control policy" said Clint Eastwood. "If there's a gun around, I want to be in control of it". Read the biography Ray. Charlton Heston, he isn't :-[

It would have been much more interesting, had it not been so mythical. Our buttered popcorn was more palatable ???

I would appreciate your clarification of this statement.

Ray
Sure Ray. It isn't a documentary, and nothing more than another big budget, money making action film for Clint Eastwood. More than 30 million dollars on opening day. By Monday, they expect to surpass 80 million dollars :o

Someone is still mad at Eastwood for "The Empty Chair" skit from the last erection. If "tree hugging" Redford made the movie, he'd call it an epic.
Redford could not make a "War" movie or anything remotely connected to it without his genetic structure rupturing.

Your opinion has been made, I thank you for your service.. I was taught to explain why I felt a certain way or it would be just considered rude to blurt out that sucked without a well thought out explanation..

Saw it tonight. It was packed and at the end had grown men crying. Very good movie. Still sad to think about how good life ended. He was an American Badass and Hero

Great movie. A little Hollywood-ified and missed a few high points from the book I would've loved to have seen. At first blush it seems a little bit confusing on the facts spelled out in the book, but A LOT less of a deviation than some other "based on a novel" movies that have been around lately. Some parts were highly dramatized for effect (as one would expect in a film) It's hard to compress a book that is so full into a 2hr+/- film, so I get it.

Would've liked to see a bit more on his childhood from the book
I didn't care for the way his brother was portrayed.
Would've loved to have seen the altercation with Jesse Ventura (I understand why, but still...)
Would've loved to see a few more scenes after he got out of the Navy (more of his work with Vets...)

There were a bunch of vets, some obviously wounded, in the theater with us Friday night. "Pin drop" doesn't even cover how silent it was during the final scene and credits.

Go see it, but buy and read the book!

Blade Runner was not a book. The original movie was an adaptation of a short story.
"Do Androids Dream of Electric Sheep" wasn't a short story. I read the book first, then saw "Blade Runner". Having read the book first, I liked the film better. But, I'd had friends that saw first, read later that liked the book better.

On topic, I've read Chris' book. It's a good read. You get a feel for both the appeal of special ops and the incredible sacrifice. There was some fluff, like the Jesse Ventura thing, but that doesn't detract from the larger perspective. I'll probably go see the movie.

Finally saw the movie,it brought forth many thoughts.Occasionally we get a reminder of what our finest endure. This movie was a profound example of that.Winston Churchill once said to the degree that many men stumble over the truth, most get up and brush themselves off as if nothing had happened.I think there are many truths this country brushes off.Politicians use catch phrases like"Our soldiers are fighting for our freedom, honor and code"ironic coming from them. That honor and code is with our soldiers fighting for the man on his side and theirs ONLY.We would best honor them if just once a moral bath was taken by this country so they could have something clean to come home to!The military want's them young with eyes that haven't seen how cruel humanity can be.Prescription drugs are a pitiful bandage to a broken spirit.I dream of seeing the day when that 1 mile stare can be reduced to a few feet for all of us. Regards Ralph Mollett

Loved the Movie, Just wish it showed more of his kills on those animals! And The other quote From MR. Eastwood!

(Participating in a gun buy-back program because you think that criminals have too many guns is like having yourself Castrated because you think your Neighbors have too many kids.)

Good one Joe, I like Eastwood's statement to Michael Moore. Michael and his documentary had a interview with Charlton Heston, which apparently Eastwood didn't appreciate.. At the National board review dinner Eastwood said, "Michael, If you show up at my front door with a camera-I'll kill you." Then the audience laughed, Moore laughed and Eastwood said, " I mean it".. Moore looked like a coward then, Now he's out there calling Chris Kyle and snipers cowards..

Ray

Ray I just love it when they say how smart he is! I'd rather be dumber than a box of rocks and have a little common sense than be him. Look at the man, only a Mother could love that face.( Then I wonder)
