Read the book. It is great! It has me excited to watch this film to see how much details they leave out of it.

I have never heard anyone say "that was better then the book". Maybe read the book afterword.

I just ordered the book, I hope it doesn't ruin the flick for me. Eastwood films are usually pretty good.

Ray

About the only movie I can recall that may have been at least the equal to the book was "The Godfather."
"The Spy Who Came in From the Cold" is the closest I have seen to the book and movie being near identical.
"Bonfire of the Vanities" the worst (best) example I have ever seen of a movie being a ridiculous adaption to film of quite a good book....

Isn't the Marines technically a division of the Navy?
Unlike its U.S. Army and U.S Air Force counterparts, the Department of the Navy comprises two uniformed services: the United States Navy and the United States Marine Corps. So you could say the Marines are a division of the Department of the Navy just as the Navy is.

Watched the movie last night. It wasn't Hollywooded or glorified the way many films are. I feel the movie was a good adaptation of the book, things were changed here and there. I don't think they could have fit the book in a 2.1 hr film.. If I had it to do over I would have watched the film first..

Chris Kyle was a hero to most that knew him. He was indeed a "Legend" He was also human and made mistakes just like the rest of us. He was also IMO a hero in my eyes. He went above and beyond the call of duty--THAT IS A PROVEN FACT.
And I can't beleive in a thread about him and the movie about him that some of you are arguing about soldier, sailor, marine, and airman. WE ARE/WERE ALL OF US BROTHERS IN ARMS

And to the sniveling left wing liberals who attack this man I say: if youv'e never been in combat STFU! Your opinion means NOTHING to me.

One of the guys I work with, came up and we started talking guns and He mentioned him and gave me the short version of his Murder. So I found out that apparently He and another guy were gunned down at a shooting range right here in Texas by another soldier (not sure which branch)that was suffering from PTSD and supposedly the mother of the guy suggested that they try and help him out. Good for them, but in the big picture I have a hard time understanding why they would go to the gun range considering the situation of the shooter. DISCLAIMER: this is what I was read so please don't quote me on everything somebody might know more or have the correct story. It is too bad this happened the way it did. If I was Kyle I would have imagined I would die in battle not on home soil. Truly sad.

I may be the only one this far out there, but our Navy Seals seemed to have a price on their heads.. Rumors of seals quitting weeks before tours were up because they felt our own government was purposely trying to kill them. I read about another being investigated, suspicious gun shot made to appear like a suicide..Interviews with Lucas and others make me think they are suspicious about Chris's shooting.. I probably shouldn't have brought this up..

Glad I'm not the only one who has questions and suspicions about how things come to be.......

Caught the movie last night. With the exception of a couple of small things that irritate me, it was well done. Won't pick it apart here.

I hope the ones they are making for Operation Medusa and Not A Good Day To Die are as good better. Different types of books for sure, mission oriented instead of biography based.

Overall, worthy of your $12 and some reflection of what those who serve and their families sacrifice.

Ray yes it makes me wonder, but I still can't believe that chris would leave the guy with the gun while the two of them went down range. Thats the story I got! I take the Bolt out of my rifle and take it with me no matter who I'm with.

I seem to remember Obama said veterans were potential terrorists. It was about the time Obama floated the "trial balloon" that military people out to be paying for their own health insurance especially if wounded in combat. After all, we were a voluntary force and it was our choice. Too bad, so sad.

Everybody in Special Forces knows this choice going in, "Live by the sword and die by the sword". If you don't, so far they missed. It is a truth. Being afraid of it only compromises your team and diminishes your life.

I think perhaps the same applies in part for truck drivers and many other professions.

Wife and I went at 12 noon on Friday --- you couldn't put 5 more people in the place if you had to. I'd say 99.9% of movie was perfect. Everyone in theater was 40 plus years old. This country is in desperate need of hero's and it's the last thing our government wants us to have.

It is a GREAT movie. It moved me, Makes you think and appreciate our armed forces drive and dedication. Thank You Chris Kyle

It would have been much more interesting, had it not been so mythical. Our buttered popcorn was more palatable ???

That is why I bring mine with me.

It was a good movie. I liked how they changed the armor on the humvee to show the advance it took. There were some stories I would have liked to have seen but good overall.
