I wanted to give a shout-out to a fellow club member on an amazing round of shooting! We had registered 300 Yard F Class Match Sunday at Bayou Rifles in Houston, Texas. Fredrik Sjodin put together an absolute amazing round of shooting!

We had a typical Bayou morning of building conditions starting from Match 1. The flag started off flat to waking up towards the end of the string. Several shooters had weird vertical some dropping several x's and many dropping a point or two.. Not for Fredrik! Match 1 Fredrik put together an amazing 200-19x. This appears to be from our recollection a new National record bettering the 200-18x that we could recall. NRA recently changed the website now all records are not showing x's so we are only pretty sure at this point that it will be a new National Record..?

After the high round match 1, everyone was anxious how the following matches would shape up..? By Match 2, the winds were awake with "quick darting" changes with tail winds changing from 5 o'clock to 7 o'clock. Quick cloud cover changing the image on the targets throughout Match 2. Fredrik was still dialed in and proceeded to follow the 19x with another stellar round of 200-18x for Match 2!

Final Match 3 conditions stayed as Match 2 and So did Fredrik.... He stayed dialed in for the final run... Match 3 he again equaled his Match 2 score. Match 3 Fired off another brilliant 200-18x!

Match 1: 200-19x
Match 2: 200-18x
Match 3: 200-18x
with a total of 600-55x!

Yes folks he stayed in the 1.42" x ring 55 of the 60 shots with a little .223! How about this fired from his first original FTR Savage with prefit Shilen barrel!?

To further give props to Fredrik on this amazing round... This will by far passes the old FTR 20 shot and 60 shot total agg for FTR. This ALSO exceeds even the Open class records at Bayou.

Amazing round Fredrik! Congratulations...!! I'm happy I was there to be witness to this amazing shooting... We are lucky to have such an amazing shooter and incredible guy at our club!

I believe that first match unseats both Robby Burton 200-18x and Nikolas Taylor 200-18x for the 300 yard F-TR individual match record, impressive shooting.

You left off the most important part. Does he anneal before or after sizing?:D

Seriously, any component and/or equipment info such as: bullet weight/brand, powder brand, scope type, etc. ?

What would you say about the wind during what is pretty darn impressive shooting. It makes us .223 F/TR shooter smile; even those of us who are happy just keeping it in the black.

A few scant years ago (maybe 4-5) Fredrik got into F-Class with a Savage .308 that "needed much work".. His capabilities were greatly inhibited by that particular rifle. He got the rifle straightened out and progressively got more proficient. Then he branched off into F-Open and really began to shine. These days Fredrik is one of the best F-Class shooters, be it T/R or Open, anywhere. He is a GREAT testament to what persistence in loading, learning to read the wind as well as learning to set his rifle up correctly, can do for someones' scores. Mozella, you too will get there with the same persistence and attention to detail!

Thanks everyone, I appreciate the kind words.

It was one of those rare days when it all came together. This 223 barrel just keeps getting better and better. It is a Shilen stainless select match bull barrel with a wylde chamber.

As Ben mentioned, my daughter set a new junior record with it back in December.

I am shooting Berger 80gr VLDs and Varget. Unturned necks. I body size and then neck size with a Lee collet die. I anneal every other firingm

The freebore is short so I have been loading a slow-poke 23.5gr Varget which is only ~2820. The barrel is 28 inches. I jam them 25.

When I chronoed leftover ammo a while back they were doing 2860 in the summer heat. I reduced the load by .3 grains for this match and that got it right back in the node.

The rifle is a Bell&Carlson Medalist stock, and a Savage target action with aa Timney blade on it. The recoil lug and nut are NSS. I also bought the barrel from NSS. I use a 2013 NF Competition.

It's the cheapest competition rifle I own and it is on par with my Dasher for accuracy. I wish I could get my 308 to be as accurate :)
