Am I the only one that's never ....

I can’t imagine building something that costs $4,000 or more and not shooting it enough to at least wear one barrel out. Seems odd.

Some of mine have gone very quickly and some I may never wear out, but all the same, I’ve shot out many a barrel with fairly predictable barrel life— although some have gone much longer than I thought they would.

I got tired of whiz-bang coyote cartridges like the 22x47 (1100 rounds) and 25-06 (800 rounds) and replaced it with a 6BR, which has gone several seasons so far and required so little load development that the round count was below 40 when I hit the field with it.

Get out and shoot those things!

Thats bcuz I get the most fun out of building them and doing load testing, then put them in the safe or even sell the ones that bore me, and move on to the next one. It may be better part of a year b4 they come out of the safe again.

I shoot lot of different disciplines... rimfire, pistol,steel challenge, precision rifle, CMP, IDPA, etc.

I’ve “shot out” a couple that went from superb accuracy to okay accuracy. They were no longer competitive for myself.

I’ve shot out a couple others that literally were throwing bullets at the target.

One being a 20-250. Bullets we’re going through the target sideways, if they made it at all. Chronograph showed velocity swings of 400fps.

It was quite interesting to observe.
