Am I late to the party again?

Perhaps this is old news but I recently discovered a great hack when bedding a rifle. I have been repurposing polyethylene plank foam commonly found in packing to replace modeling clay. I never liked cleaning up the clay or play dough or silly putty ect. Last rifle I did I had a hunk of white poly plank foam on the bench and gave it a try to block/ dam the bedding compound. Cuts very easily and can be packed into voids. It stays in place and clean up is effortless. Not sure if I discovered the holy grail of Im just behind the times. If you are still using clay you might want to try this out.

I have some 2 part silicone mold making putty I have been wanting to try, for reusable plugs for common things like 700 mag wells, trigger wells, etm. The ethafoam is a good idea, too. I have thousands of square feet of it at work. Might just take some scraps!

I used that stuff for a bit and out worked well. The only place I’m using putty now is in the safety cut out in the stock. Everything else I’ve started using that thin high temp slick tape and tape over the trigger cut, bottom metal cut, holes for bolt release pin all get trapped now.
