Your work would be flawless, for sure!Al,
That would be a fun part to make on my CNC mill.
Just sayin! Lol
Paul
I hate making these with a passion. By the time the shaping is done and it's time to polish them, I'm about at the end of my patience. I was at that point yesterday when I remembered my bag of Cratex sticks.

It's a pain in the BUTT!I too hate fitting butt plates.

I'm like you and really don't like making butt plates...it's just part of the job. Carbon fiber is way easier and it can save a little weight in cases where a little bit matters. That one still looks kinda rough at this stage but they look good when done. You can scuff and clear it too. I'll find a pic of one finished and on a rifle...Mike, that looks good. I've got some from the race shop. The next one I do will vet one.
True, but you can cut it close to size and be done in no time without a lot of dust involved.View attachment 1652405
Don't get as hot as aluminum when shaping but the dust is another story.

Thanks Dave. I will look into it.Paul
There's a market for these. I occasionally get a call from someone looking for one.
Al, carbon fiber is a game changer. Lots easier to shape.
This one is incomplete but you get the idea.
Sweet!I like it, Mike!
Screwed mine on today and gave the girl some sunshine time.Still a little color blend to do after reshaping the grip area.
