Alpha 6PPC Brass

Just did the third firing. 30.4 grains of N133 on top. 30.7 grains on the bottom at 3580 FPS. Gun function was normal. Nothing out of the ordinary.

Y’all work your load up. Do not assume you can duplicate what I am doing. Most of you know that, but for those that don’t…this is your PSA.

Hammer those a few times at either of those loads and see how extraction and primer pockets hold up. That should be the upper node range for most of us. Looking and sounding very good so far. Thanks for doing this and sharing with the rest of us. If it'll take 10 of those at that load, I'd be happy but more than that is bonus territory to me.

These will be along on every range trip so I can beat the snot out of them.

There are a lot of guys testing this brass. I am a bit bummed that everyone is tight lipped.

Yeah, with Lapua being so hard to get, you'd think people would be happy to see a viable domestic product. Thanks for doing this. You coming to the Nats?

I am not going to make it Mike. The new job has me stepping and fetching. Since vacation time is limited, I am focusing on getting ready for the Tackdriver.

To wet the Alpha brass appetite, here is a 4 shot and 5 shot group at 300 yards when I fire formed these ten cases.

Do that a few times and send me a pic of your trophy! Nice!
Frankly, I've never doubted it will shoot but I've just questioned if it would hold up to our upper end loads. Sounding good so far though. I'd like to make both matches but I'm busting arse trying to make one. Not my year...only shot one match and absolutely no practice time. I'll shoot like crap but have never missed a UBR Nats and I'll be there to donate and have a good time.

That 30.4 of N133 is my usual load with my own 68 grn BT and Lapua made from the 220 Russian.
I don’t worry too much about primer pockets. They are going get loose when shooting 68 grn bullets at 3430 fps. As long as the Rifle aggs at a competitive level, I just ignore the loose pockets.
Who has Alpha in stock? I want to get some, but it seems all of the major suppliers are out.

No one I know of. It's supposed be available mid October at PMA. If you pre order now on there website you get free shipping.

I hate neck turning, but this Alpha has been easy and quite a time saver.

No expansion step was required on my brass. It fits my turning mandrel good. It is a bit more loose on the turning mandrel than the Lapua 220 Russian I expand to 6mm, but the results after turning using two different micrometers tell me I don't have an issue. I measured every piece for the first ten pieces, then randomly checked after that and never found anything that would raise an eyebrow.

As a side note, I sampled a random 25 cases out of my box and had no more than .002 TIR. Many were .001. The stuff spins true when I'm turning the necks. Very little perceptible wobble.

I am looking forward to doing a fire forming session with this stuff. I will be surprised if it doesn't shoot good during fire forming.

PMA has it in stock now.
