Alpha 30BR brass

If you have a suggestion I think you should contact Alpha directly. This is what I received from them today...

We don’t have any data yet as we have not begun testing. What wall thickness would you like?

Best,

I revived a call from Lester Bruno a while back for input on the Alpha 30BR project.
I told him that the best plan of attack would be to simply get some samples of 30BR cases made from the Lapua 6BR Norma cases and duplicate that in head diameter and case wall thickness. An ideal average neck thickness would probably be .011. This would allow for no neck turn chambers for those desiring to go that route plus not an excessive amount of material to be removed to use in the VERY POULAR .330 neck chambers.

The overall trim to length is another factor. As many know, my overall trim to length is 1.540 due to the method I use to make my cases from Lapua. That being, I blow them out rather than necking them up. Blowing them out results in keeping more of the original 1.560 of the original Lapua 6BR Norma case.

I doubt there is enough shooters using my reamer design for them to consider an overall length the same as a blown out Lapua 6BR. If they wish to sell cases with a minimum amount of prep. They will probably go with a trim to length that the vast majority uses, that being around 1.500 to 1.510.

So I would have to decide if I wanted to change back to my original 30BR Robinette reamer or continue to blow out Lapua cases and stay with the reamer I and several others have been using for some time now, or switch over to the ALPHA.

I think Alpha scored a touchdown with their 6PPC. They got the head diameter right and the neck thickness right. I cannot tell it from a 6PPC made from a Lapua 220 Russian, which in my opinion is or should be the industry standard. If Alpha follows that line of thinking and gives the vast majority of shooters what they want with a lot less hassle in making the cases, it will sell, and in all likelihood be a winner.

I never heard from Alpha.

I sent ALPHA an email by way of their Web Site, but it does not show it as being sent in my “sent” box in my email. So I have no way of knowing whether it went through or not.

Does anybody have their actual email address.?
