Alliant powder bottle size WHY?

It is all in a marking ploy. All of the products, from various makers, make the container/package larger so the eye of the buy thinks they really have a good amount. But when you actually look inside, most are from 1/2 to 3/4 full. Name one of any that fill to the top of the neck or opening.

Might be their specific filling process then it settles. Like a bag of chips. Might be cheaper for them to have larger container and faster filling times than the opposite. Don't know for sure.

Chips are sold in half-full bags so the air provides a cushion to avoid crushing the product. No need to worry about that with powder.

I think the low powder fills may be due to minimizing the number of bottles they buy and stock though. Same bottle for 4 or 8 lbers, for example.

I ain't complaining! I'd love a 8# keg of Reloder33 even if it was delivered in an AMC Pacer! :D
I made sure to build plenty of space into my reloading room for Alliant Powder!
;)
God, you are old. :D I seen a Pacer going for big money online recently. I had a v8 Gremlin and boy would that scoot. Sadly, it couldn't stand up to the rigors of youth.

So, you could trade in a Pacer and buy a fair amount of powder and they'll both blow up.

They always have. It’s annoying I know. I also hate the fact that I have really good luck with federal primers in many rifles. The 1K bricks are so big and obnoxious!
Yeah - the Federal brick is about three times as large as Remington 7 1/2.

That reminds me of the Ford Pinto. They sold a bunch of those cars and five years later there were none. Don't even know if any still exist......

Rumor has it that something happened to a shipment of Federal primers - blew up in transit or somesuch, and they were directed to change packaging. And likely went overboard (though understandably so - I'd hate to be responsible for some random shipper or delivery guy getting maimed or dying.)

When I built my powder locker, set the shelves with old Alliant 8lb jug, taller than IMR ones, left 1/2" clearance. Then, shortly after, I bought a newer style jug of RL19, about 1/8" taller than what I'd set the shelves at. Ya can't win.
