Alliant Powder Availability Alert

over here in the uk, primers are like rocking horse sh*t, cci and federal are almost non existant, mag tech sellor and bellot, rws, and murom primers russian i think, ive seen some shooters pay $250 for a thousand cci b\rest primers powder is scarce $150 a kilo brass the good stuff lapua norma $150 per 100 depending on calibre its getting scary i myself am not to bad, i have have good supply of primers bullets cases powder to last me, i have given primers away to some nice shooters to keep them going who have said to me they have no primers so they are stopping shooting, we have got to help are fellow shooters, bsIMG_2496.JPGIMG_2497.JPG
 
Viht, and to a lesser extent Reload Swiss, are the only viable options here really, certainly up my corner of Scotland
Primers, Magtech and RWS now starting to take over the shelf space practically empty of Federal and CCI, and it's reported we might not see any of those until into 2025 if at all.
 
A future nitrocellulose shortage was something that was looked at by the US Congress 40 yrs or so ago when they were doing all the base closures after Vietnam, there was a big national security debate over closing the second to last plant that could make it in the US, it was predictable according to some in that debate. And of course the EPA and NIMBY"s won't allow a new one now, even if someone was willing to build it.
 
The last 2 Alliant powders I tried was R16 and AR Comp. I bought a pound of each. The AR Comp shot outstanding. R16 wasn't bad either. Since then I've primarily switched to VV powders and I'm not looking back. Widden's is a short 90 mile drive up the road from me. No more Alliant for me.
 
If you haven’t been preparing for hard times I feel like you have your head in the sand. Ever since the Obama years I’ve been adding some here and there to my primers, my powder, bullets, brass and more. Call me a hoarder all you want, doesn’t bother me, I look at it like it’s the wise thing to do. When the last shortage started I noticed a lot of guys running out of critical components fast. Right now things are a bit spendy BUT you can get just about anything you need or a close substitute. It’s a good time to get some reserves going. Seeing information like this just keeps me motivated to continue to try and be prepared for empty shelves and poor supply lines. Maybe it happens, maybe it doesn’t, if it does I’d like to be able to help me and mine deal with it.

I'm sad to hear about Alliant availability.
Rel33 is magic in my 338Imp. While I still have 20 or so lbs, I'll have to find an alternative. Likewise, 16 works well in my 6.5 Walley. Again, enough for a few barrels but not great news.
 
Let me say how much I miss Reloader 25, which was the first to silently disappear around COVID.

This is today on wet paper with a classified ads stock from here (BR shooter from California and the stickers show the era) and a Speedy G barreled action BAT M, since rebarreled by Phil B, which could have been the actual one the stock was bedded with unless you knew the history, that’s how identical they are. I took it out of the RAD Kestros Zrail as RADs aren’t my preference, and according to the bolt release’s engraving, some feller named J Fowler - wearing a team shirt at the time that looked a lot like our flag - was the intended shooter but the gun isn’t complaining.

This is the wet paper that disintegrates and the 5 shot group is much smaller than it appears.

The only .284 load I ever truly “loved”, from the first week it could be made, was tipped Berger 195 EOL bullets over Reloader 25, in the area of 57.0 grains.

This combination was in no books. It was purely from brainstorming. This load would shoot inside an rSaum at 1,000 shooting 180’s. My longest string of X’s at 1,000 to date was with this load. This older box is from a sadly dwindling supply.

Yep, I wonder why democrats have let 25000+(that we know of) Chinese single male military age into the country against immigration law. Next COVID wave so they can declare marshal law.

I’m not talking about a bunch of guys in the country running around scrounging weapons and acting out sleeper cell tactics at the direction of a foreign power.

Are you aware there have been more than a few proposals made to allow immigrants or whatever we want to call them who are here on parole, temporary asylum, and other non-standard (I argue illegal) status not only the ability to serve in the US military but to also be fast-tracked for citizenship as a reward?

Leftists in power have been working to change the culture of our military and which individuals serve, and which do not or are marginalized within the service. The above mentioned proposals made by some politicians and others, if they are implemented, would result in trained and equipped, supported active duty soldiers who personally have no connection to or love for what America is supposed to be and very likely a resentment of the American people.

So I mean the actual, real US Military essentially taking on what would traditionally be seen as a UN mission, a military that is more than willing to take on unconstitutional orders without saying “Hey wait a minute…” I believe this is a very real plan.
