Allen Wrenches Anyone???

I have got 7,263 allen wrenches in my shop and don't have a single one that will fit anything I own. Yesterday I went to Home Depot and Lowe's in search for some new allen wrenches. No luck at either place. I want the ones with the T handle that fit into their own little block. I need both metric and SAE.
Where can I buy some on the WWW?

Just got a set of SAE "T" handles from www.harborfreight.com. Didn't see any in metric but that doesn't mean thay don't have any. Lots of "goodies" to keep on the bench.

I really hate lower quality tools. Crappy hex wrenches can damage sockets and cause much additional grief.
You can purchase many different styles of inch and metric and good quality from MSC,mscdirect.com). I've purchased individual "T" wrenches with plastic covering for use on lathe/mill and they stay on the machine.
There are at least 5 sets of inch and two of metric in "holders" in my shop. Life is too short to have to search for a common tool.

The sets from Brownells and the "Chapman" tools are real handy for use on guns, especially where some bozo used loctite on small screws. Keep plenty of extra bits on hand.

I've had the Harbor Freight t-handled ones as well. Make sure you either put a dab of epoxy where the handle joins the shank of the wrench or don't torque on them too hard, as the wrench will begin to spin in the plastic handle when it strips out the handle.

Snap-on.com. If they ever break, they'll replace them for free. If sending broken ones back is a hassle, call some auto repair places,locally) and ask when the Snap-on truck comes and you can take care of it then. Also applies to Mac & Matco

I'm so glad to read your post...I thought it was just me. Why don't I trade the 4500 I have that don't fit anything for yours? Who knows, maybe we'll both end up with something that will work.

I had the same problem until I retired. I had the time so I hunted down every Allen wrench I owned and tossed them in the trash.

I got several sets each of "T" handles and "L" wrenches and now I'm happy.

I also done the same thing with my 3,287 screwdrivers. I bought several sets of Sears Craftsman screw drivers and a new gunsmith set of drivers from Brownells.

Ahhh life is good.

You have two options go the cheap route at busternuckles tools or get caraftsman, Mac, etc.

I go through about 4 sets of cheap ones on my loaders and gunsmithing bench lathes and mills.

I have a Craftsman sets that is over ten years old that are originals in my mechanics tool box.

You can buy about 4-6 sets of cheap ones to the one set of quality T handle allens.

When I graduated from high school my parents bought me the largest set of Craftsman tools that was made in 1962 and the tool boxes and roll around of the time. Since then I have added even more tools and tool boxes/roll arounds. That was the best money my parents ever spent IMHO.

I still have most of the original tools even though certain ones like ratchets and sockets have been replaced by Sears several times over.

Damn! that's 44 years I've had these tools. Time flies when you're having fun

For less than $20 for each set Sears has the t- handled ones and we can all throw away the little drivers that Burris and Leupold package with each ring purchase
