All The Real Snipers work at Cabelas ..

22% huh??? Well . . . we are getting pretty old now. ;)
Certainly. Finding accurate numbers is virtually impossible due to the government juggling the numbers. Example is them saying 13+ million served. Well there are 13 million Vietnam ERA vets that served during the war. There were 2.7 million that actually served IN Vietnam. There are very inaccurate numbers regarding suicide by Vietnam vets but the ‘latest’ figure is about 18 per day for all vets.
The government has played with numbers endlessly.
Remember with statistics. They will always show what the man who paid the statistician to show.
The failure of the government to recognize agent orange, as even harmful, until 1991, makes the real numbers difficult if not impossible to determine. There was a lot of dying between 1973 and 1991 which they can’t account for. Then the delaying and foot dragging in acknowledging claims further helps to the confusion. And let’s not forget the money saved. Which I believe was their goal all along.
My personal goal is to make them pay. Each day is a personal best for me.

The store manager to him: "Hey Bud, we've been getting some really odd complaints about your behavior lately. Have you been talking to customers during your regular cleaning routine? No? okay, also make sure the wet floor signs are down before mopping.

I don’t recall such an encounter with staff there, but perhaps that’s a good thing not to have a dude “hit” on me.
I can say, whomever in their hierarchy that sets the prices in the Gun Library must think he works for Barrett-Jackson Auctions.

Well guys I just wanted to share my experience since it has happened so many times I just thought I would see if others realize this phenomenon.

We have a Cabela's down the road in Dundee MI and I decided to stop by there the other day with my wife coming home from work to buy her her Christmas present a new compound bow and get it set up.

Had some dude in there covered in tats getting the draw length set up and everything leveled for her and she was shooting it a bit on the range, so I decided to step away into the reloading department and try and find a .204 cleaning rod

When I found what I needed I was coming back and upon approaching I was hearing him talk about how he was a sniper and he was already engaging my wife in the whole conversation trying to impress her while I was gone.

Told her he was former military and SWAT and US marshals and a sniper in the military
LOL

My wife told him Oh my husband is into shooting and reloads and builds rifles himself And is former military as well

She already knew he was full of shit so she was playing along giving him enough noose to hang himself

So when I walked in I heard him saying he was playing poker at 1000 yards with his 338 Lapua Magnum
I acted dumb and I said playing poker really ??

He said yeah we were using our Christensen Arms 338 Lapua Magnum that the government had a contract with
Geez I never knew the government contracted with them for rifles ? LOL

I said no kidding what grain bullet were you using
Then came the big long pause and out of his mouth he said 125 grain

;)
Ohh That was all I needed to hear it was time to have fun with this guy
I said I wasn't aware that a .338 bore would have a 125 grain bullet available

So he was in damage control at that point and quickly came back and said oh that was our high speed stuff we use that for close quarters.

?? It was getting better by the second..
Close quarters I asked geez I wasn't aware anybody used a 338 for close quarters work

He then said oh well that's our practice rounds...lol

By now the tension was getting real thick and my wife was wanting me to stop brutalizing this guy
I just looked at him and smiled and said you didn't really serve,,
He said oh no I didn't but I was a US Marshall ,,,

I wasn't even interested in going any further at that point.
I took the carbon arrows and the bow grabbed my wife by the hand and we walked to the front desk, we had enough of the Pro Archery department and their special operation snipers...

Another noteworthy item was good for a chuckle he told us when we get home and we want to learn how to site it in and learn how the pins work make sure you go to Youtube and watch all the videos.

LOL because ScrewTube and it's ultra cool tactical Influencers know it all,,,,,a wealth of knowledge there
This is Golden! Thanks for sharing.

You went way way further than I would have.
Unfortunately I have run into this with VietNam vets. Not that I ever met nor want to meet him, US Senator Richard Blumenthal. Then the late Brian Denehey.
Both liars. That both claimed they were VietNam vets. Neither ever set foot in VietNam. Denehey actually said he did 5 tours. In VietNam each tour was one year.
5 years? Your brain is fully scrambled.
In the end they both said they were misquoted. I even ran into a guy who said he was a VietNam vet But it didn’t appear on his DD214 because his mission was too secretive.
As a matter of interest 22% of the 2.7 million men who did serve is all that’s currently alive today.
Viet Nam Vet here. I keep it to myself.

Had the experience of working at an Ass Pro store in departments other than firearms/gun counter. Almost without exception, the guys at the gun counter didn't have enough sense to make change for a nickel, and if they did, they got out of there mighty quick. Or kept their mouths shut. Mostly all blow-hard wanna-be's. Some of the crap that came out of their mouths was pretty rich!

I had one of those guys over here today. I let him use my 100 yard range. Not a good shot. He can really talk a good game about guns. He brought over two ARs he built for other people. Neither functioned. He’s a friend of my great neighbor, so I tolerate him.

They are here, on the neighbor’s place, to pig hunt. I hope he lets his wife take the shot. She borrowed my Grendel and 2 rounds and stacked em in one enlarged hole. Much nicer person too.

My MOS was 5811

I have posted this before but I heard a guy at a gun show say, “ There were 72 USMC snipers in Viet Nam and I have met 300 of them. “
True statement. Then there was the 10,000 or so that was Recon. Met a guy one day that was a super secret squirrel. When I asked where he was over there, he spent his tour between the DMZ and Hanoi. And, was a sniper as well.

As Don Shipley( he outs fake Navy Seals) would say, "Oh, classified, huh?"

I remember back in the day going to a Cabela’s store was right up there with Christmas as a 10-year-old boy or the first day of Buck season as a boy. I never thought I would ever see Cabela’s taken over by a different company. My goal is as a boy now (64 years young) is to never go back into a Cabela’s store. I get that warm fuzzy feeling every time I just drive right on by one. I bid them well, just not on my dime.

Love the guys in New BDU's all new patches that claim they were in 'Nam and are still wearing the same clothes they served in. When I was still running my gunshop we were privileged to have many Vets from WWII forward frequent our business. Had a paratrooper from 101st that jumped into France night before D day! Had men who served in the frozen Chosin. Had vets still carrying bullets from the Tet. Admiral Frank Kelso was a friend of ours as well. One quiet gentlemen we did a bit of barrel work for was guarding the rear gate at Beirut when the bastards blew the Marine barracks. He was one of a handful of survivors. Valor walks quietly, assumes nothing and asks nothing but deserves everything!!!! Remember Pearl Harbor!! Teach your children cause these assholes in our education system sure aren't! THANK YOU TO ALL OUR VETS MORTAL AND ETERNAL!!

PISS ON THE POSERS!

Almost forgot I had a guy in our gunshop showing his nephew the same style and caliber rifle he used as a sniper when he was military! A 742 Woodmaster in .270 nonetheless. Laughed him outta our shop. Can't stand Stolen Valor. My pops was a Korean War Vet and taught me that if they play the Star Spangled Banner and you don't have chills "you Damn well better".

My only experience at Cabelas was buying my grandson his first rifle. The jerk almost flipped out when he found I was buying the gun for him. Went into this routine that I was breaking the law big time. Grandson was leaving for boot camp in a couple of weeks and they had an old lever rifle he wanted bad. We promptly left and never did any business with Cabelas since. I had him what he wanted when he got out of boot.

Yeah some stuff makes you raise an eyebrow there while other stuff is reasonable. They recently redid the library and all guns are locked in racks now and they have a big wad of fresh inventory.

Probably take Junior to see the fish later for something to do plus I need to buy some GCs for Christmas so I will be sure to watch out for any snipers….
