Personally, I never went to Viet Nam.....In the 1960's the Army needed my talents in other places/countries where we were "protected" by double concertina wire, cover "music", 24 hour a day outdoor high power light and MPs at the gate who checked "credentials" at the gate but were only allowed to enter the compound with escorts by certain folks. One of my younger brothers served as medic in 'Nam, but he spent most of his time patching up guys that fell out of the guard towers after getting a little to ah..."tuned up"! He is now deceased and I believe that what finally got him was exposure to too many or too much chemicals during his time in "nam.
