I had a PM exchange with the member that was the Nigerian scam. He wanted to be paid electronically for a firearm. And would not accept a bank check.

Next time offer a blank check. "You fill it out", just to record the response for posterity. Should be fun.

Easy fix. WTB? Send me the $$$ and when I get it, I'll send you the WHATEVER you paid for.
Same for WTS. Send me the WHATEVER and when I get it, I'll send you the $$$ by return mail.
And when it comes to "getting scammed", I would check how and why you got involved/taken in the first place.
You need the $$$ that bad?? Or, you want "that item" that bad??

I'm glad silver is not required to at least buy items. I came to this site and still do not know if I am totally into this sport. Being able to buy items at a reasonable price has sure helped me and hooked me further in this type of shooting. If I stick with it, I'll support the site as well.

So if being a member is required for trading, I would suggest having a bronze level for a buck a month. That way you verify data and identities but it's no prohibitive to people who are just starting out and unsure of the path they are taking.

... except in cases of hacked passwords — usually from a hacked phone — we have not seen scammer activity by Gold and Silver members.

Would it be a PITA to add a notification "You sent a PM to ... "? That should alert someone that their password had been hacked.

I agree that a Silver membership should be the minimum for such transactions. Silver is what, $25 a year? And Gold is $50. That means just over $2.08 a month for Silver and just over $4.16 a month for Gold. If a person can't afford that, they certainly can't afford to mess with this sport!

Absolutely agree 100%. But we got some that will free load and not think twice about. I don't care to deal with that type.

If there was a monthly option, I'd do that for silver. However a year subscription just to trade? I'd go somewhere else
