Alex Wheeler Scope Testing

Does anyone have a copy of the article on scope testing that Alex wrote? I am looking for a new scope and would like to review his data.

Thanks!

googled "Alex Wheeler scope testing" came up with something on Accurate shooter titled " Alex Wheeler tests 13 scopes". Hope that helps you. The scopes he tested were way above my price range.

This is NOT A BUYERS GUIDE don’t use it as such

You are WRONG! This site is one of the BEST BUYERS GUIDES available! There are many areas of the site that proclaim to be just that.

I and many other members have used it to learn from others equipment and shooting/reloading experiences. It has saved me a ton of money and wasted time and effort. It is in fact one of the primary functions of the site.

And who are you to tell other members what to do?

Alex deleted the thread and literally said that it was not buyers guide and that people using it that way was why he did. Alex is a massive resource to this site and build the best rifle I own. I find it important to note his opinion on the scope checker thread data if I’m going to post it.

If you think I’m making some overarching statement about accurateshooter you are wrong. I am only talking about what I linked.

jmcmath, I would love to see his information please, if you have a copy.

Thanks,

RS
Sure, Can you click on the link it my original message? Then on the picture that comes up click on that, or the “get the file” tab. It’s a little hard to work so Pm me if not and I will get it to you.

In regards to the testing, it was never about brands but more so about sharing with people that this is another area of accuracy that needs work. I was never contacted by a scope company or any one else about deleting the info. The fans of one brand or another that could not handle the truth and those glossing over it and asking what to buy missed the point of the thread which was to test. Either way, I am only willing to deal with so much grief.

So basically you are saying the sampling of each manufacturer was so small no definitive results can be drawn. Brand "Y" scope may have been the only good scope they made in a year. Brand "Z" scope could be hit or miss with a 50% in manufacturing a repeatable scope. Then brand "X" may have been the only scope that was a dud they had built in years. So no clear result can be obtained as to which manufacture builds the best repeatable well tracking scope. But we can conclude this is an area that needs to be checked when using a scope for accuracy dominated matches.

Is this about right?

That's about right. But one thing you can take away is there is a alarmingly high percentage of scopes that move in general and testing them is not a waste of time.

I have used most of the scopes Alex tested and agreed 100% with his findings.
The only one I hadn’t was the Kahles and I got ahold of one and tested at 800M.
Very disappointing optics and I have just found out that it was sent back to factory and “repaired”! Looking forward to assessing again as I see quite a few now in use at F Class matches in USA. I wanted a 100% mechanically reliable scope to use as a reference on various rifles.
in the same fashion as Alex I have stopped commenting publicly on optics due to the ignorant and heavily invested comments!
this would be the first in some years!
